Photographer's Note

The plane forest of Kireas, mainly of plane trees, and other hydrophilic plants, stretching alongside the river Kireas, which is located in the municipality of Kireas, of north Evia. The river Kireas has its springs to the mountains Fteritsa, Pyxaria, Mavrovouni, Kandili and as it flows through the valley of Prokopi and the basin of Mantoudi, it meets the river Nileas where they become one, and as Voudoros, flow into the Aegean Sea on the beach of Krya Vrysi, near Kirinthos. According to Strabo, the sheep who drank the water of Kireas gave birth to white sheep, while sheep that drank from Nileas gave birth to black ones.
