Photographer's Note

Fournoi is a small archipelago in the Aegean Sea, located between the larger islands of Samos and Ikaria. It consists of over 20 islands, small islets and large rocks. Fisheries makes up the largest part of the economy of the islands, its fleet of small and often colourful fishing vessels is said to be one of the largest in the Aegean Sea - in fact, most of its citizens are fishermen. Here, nets have been neatly arranged for drying or fixing over a boat - a common scene in the little harbour where people can always be seen cleaning their nets, fixing boats, unloading and selling fish and other maritime activities that are probably being performed in this region for millenia.
