Photographer’s Note

Kostas, is a worker in the last traditional bakery -which was built in 1885 - in Ikaria island Greece. Local authorities want it demolished in order to build luxury villas for rent.Mr Dimitris ( See previous photo) the owner of the bakery, asked me to show pictures of the bakery to the ministry of culture in order his traditional bakery to be saved. I can't show it to the ministry of culture, but I can show it to the world!

Ikaria is an isolated and remote island, in which communists were exiled after the Greek civil war. During a period of 10 years more than 13.000 communists were exiled there. That's why today the island is called "Red Rock" or "little Cuba".
