Inside the old bakery Photo

Photographer’s Note

Mr Dimitris, is the owner of the last traditional bakery -which was built in 1885 -, in Ikaria island Greece. In the photo, he shows me the ownership papers. Local authorities want it demolished in order to build luxury villas for rent.He asked me to show pictures of the bakery to the ministry of culture in order his traditional bakery to be saved. I can't show it to the ministry of culture, but I can show it to the world!

Ikaria is an isolated and remote island, in which communists were exiled after the Greek civil war. During a period of 10 years more than 13.000 communists were exiled there. That's why today the island is called "Red Rock" or "little Cuba".

Wonderful shot, with lovely sepia tones here. This is a kind of shot I really like, showing simple people leading their life in dignity...often in spite of the hardships and troubles they encounter. Great picture!

Hi Nikolao,
This one is quite different in your gallery, with its melancholic atmosphere and postprocessing. Sephia goes very well with the vintage feel. I like the generous presentation of abundant details around.
