Photographer’s Note

Fishermen leaving the port of Vonitsa for night fishing while the seting sun is "painting" everything with the warm colors of fire. Almost half of the people in the small town are working as fishermen. In autumn the area is full of sardines which are the main catch. They are fishing usually during the night coming back early in the morning.

Beautiful light and subject. Though I'd have preferred the boat to be a little less central and moving into the shot, to be perfect, though not at the expense of losing it against the breakwater. Maybe an angle shifted right abot 20 degs would have done it. Anyway, still a nice shot, easy to think of improvements afterwards.

A sunset without the sun :)
I don't think the boat is too centred, but crop a bit of the bottom to get rid of bottom right corner (that has something in it) would improve it.
I like the colors decreasing through the picture following the boat.

Surely it will have been a good night for fishermen: red evening good fishing (ok the saying is quite different but ...)The atmosphere is the same of those Sicilian fishermen village I know very well (normal: we are so close!)Good old times. Stupend colors and light.

Wonderful depth and warm sunset colours, Geogre! The slight diagonal with the lit up clouds in sky has a very interesting effect: it somehow points down, leading the eye smoothly toward the boat and spontaneously accentuating on it. Great composition with lovely details. Excellent capture!

Beautiful colours for this shot.
I think that the bottom could be cropped. And as RGatward I would have prefered the boat less centered but I think that just cropping would enhance enough the shot to let the boat where it is.

What one here George, the pastel colour tint for the total photograph, it silhouette from the mountain in the background and the two fishers on this small boat, an very calm and peaceful place..My compliments for this George!

I seem to reconize this place from your last shot Georges. I am right ? It seems like a beautiful and peacefull place. Good soft colors here. I like how you placed the boat just after the pier. It gives the photo a sense of motion.

Classical (and classy) composition of the fishermen in their boat, with the few available elements placed to the very best inside the frame. The light and colors in this are reminiscent of an impressionist painting. Beautiful job, George.

Dying embers glow to light the scene make the picture very soft. One of the softest I've seen from you. Only the fishermen and their boat contrast with the landscape and they are quite small. I can imagine how lonely one might feel on such a small boat at see during the night.

There is a great transparency here, and a good choice of lines; like the colors and the "touch" to compose this subject.
Its quite painting, anyways, looks more than a photo.

This is so nice of color George, you drown in the rose/red sunset with a fine detail in the middle a strip of pier and land and a floating boat, very srtong compo.

Great atmosphere you caught here! The reddish color is very beautiful. Also like the calm felt in this image.

Yet I think the composition is a bit centered. A small crop from the bottom would place the horizon in a stronger place and benefit the composition.
