Photographer’s Note

This week we celebrate our Orthodox Easter always on the first week after the first full moon after the equinox. I thought that since it is the week of sorrows and death followed by His Resurrection to post this shadow picture of the boatman taking souls to the underworld...

... however, as Christianity is a religion of hope for rebirth as it happens with nature too on a yearly basis to add some of the most melodious ecclesiastical music for you to enjoy. I hope you like it.

Amazing photo! Great sunset! The burning sun is casting that red cast on the sky which is contrasting well with the silvery-grey of the evening sea! The fishing boat is adequetly placed to creat impact on the capture.

This is a beautiful sunset and you have captured it nicely. The silvery glow on the water is contrasted nicely by the orange sky. The boats shown in silhouette makes for a very attractive shot.

I came back only yesterday from my Easter trip to Cinque Terre in nothern Italy and I'm slowly trying to catch up with the numerous TE friends photos... I see that you have posted many excellent pictures, and one really doesn't know which one to prefer. This one is really fantastic and shows all your skill and mastery in the tecnique and in the art of composition. The whole picture is so fine but for a sea lover like me the thing that impresses me most is the water: all those small ripples and reflections are so vivid and real and reveal the trace of the wind. A great work!

I was so lucky to attend a Greek Easter in Kerkyra and I can truly say it was one of the greatest experience of my life. I enjoyed the music together with your splendid image which give the right mood for the occasion. What I like most is the contrast between the warm colours in the sky and the cold colours in the sea, like the contrast between hope and and desperation.

the shadows make the light more bright,
three shadow parts, the silhouette of boat, distant dark mountains and the bottom of clouds in the sky, look meaning three elements, those are the man, the earth and the heaven.
anyway the light is shining with the dark shadow, this your shot shows more wide portion of shadows than other your late shots on the sea, and the more shadows makes the more the light shining in the world.
