‘Hydra - Arrival in Hydra Port’

Hydra is one of the Saronic Islands located very close to the east coast of the Peloponnese (Argolis).

The arrival in the perfect horseshoe harbor of the main town is a beautiful spectacle.
Another nice thing of the island is that cars and motorbikes aren’t permitted. Except of the garbage trucks all transportation is done by donkeys and horses. The inhabited area is rather compact so that people can walk everywhere.
This makes that Hydra - specially in the low touristic season - is a very peaceful place to spend a few days.

The main town with many greystone mansions and white-walled, red-tiled houses that are mostly built in the 18th century, is quite small but the labyrinth of small steep alleyways makes it very interesting.

Surely that is a view quite unbeatable.

The detail of the yacht to enter the bay and leaving a large wake in the blue water is great. Red and orange roofs, contrasted well to the environment, and in a balanced frame.

such a high POV offers us a splendid sight on this nice port, in a very harmonic and balanced composition, in which I like the contrast of the white and reddish tones in the architecture of the city, and the white stela of the ship on the deep blue tones of the sea.

I love how the trail of the boat makes that sweeping curve which leads right into the frame. The colour contrast between the terracotta roofs and the deep blue sea is also very pleasing.

This is a great shot of the port of Hydra. The high POV is great giving us a nice overview of the port and city. The approaching boat gives the scene a nice sense of life and motion. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

I'm a fan od Greek islands and I like panoramic view from a high pov. Furthermore I'm a sailor and I love harbours especialaly small ones, so I have three good reasons to appreciate this photo of yours. I think it's like a good travel photo should be: fine and informative. The composition is well arranged and the curve left in the water by the boat add a graphic motive. TFS,

I've been to Hydra many times, I've seen many photos from this place but you offer a POV that is not common making this photo very interesting.

Nice framing and colors, I like also the inclusion of the "flying dolphin" in the photo.

Hallo Paul. Ik zie aan jouw foto's dat we veel op dezelfde plaatsen zijn geweest. Van deze foto heb ik bijna exact dezelfde foto gemaaky. Ook toen er net een schip kwam binnenvaren, Alleen mijn shot was wat lager. Jouw foto ziet er ook beter uit. Ik was ook in Corinthie en Nafplio. Ik ben ook in Epidavrous en Mycenie geweest. Geweldig land! Je hebt trouwens veel goede foto's. Ik zal ze zeker verder bekijken. TFS Gerrit
