This shipwreck is located about 5 Km away from Gytheio in a lovely beach. It is very famous and in summer this place is full of people and the sea is calm.Today there was no one in the beach and the sea was ungry. The ideal time i was waiting for.

ISO 100
F 13,4
SHUTTER SPEED 4 sec
Black and White Capture on camera

PS cropping , auto levels, frame.

I was considered for a while, which version of the image to upload. The B/W or the colorful one.I decided that the B/W gives another feeling to the image, which i prefer most.
Hope you like it too :)

UPDATE : In the workshop there is another version of this image, slightly diferrent.
Thank you all for your comments to my picture.

hello, I like this picture in NB more dramatic and it is a good idea to get waves not clear near the ship. frame very interesting by keeping empty the right ; and the little rope from the ship get a very great importance.
it is very cinématographic as the title would be on the sreen... (sorry for my approximative english)

Very nice photo! Great B&W tones and that haze makes this photo very special!

You can post the color version as a WS if you want!

This is very artistic view of the photo. One old ship at once became mysty old story.
Good chosen as B&W.

Nice shot. I like the crop you used. The old boat seems like flying on clouds... Pity the sky was as white. Thanks,

Pascal

I love this picture. It has a real Shackleton feel to it. Haunting. BW was the only choice for this one. regards, cc

Yes B&W is the best option for this shot. The long exposure also does justice to the scene, providing a very eerie atmosphere.....a ghost ship coming ashore.
My only negative critique is, I wish you had told us how long the ship had been there. Remember this is a global audience in TE.

I like the composition and the tonereduction to BW.
A bit sharpness could be applied.
I too wonder about the coloured version.

Great composition. Not putting the ship in the middle gives us a much better feeling of the open sea. And Ilove the lighting. Very dramatic.

A very dramitic shot!

A good use of black n white. Creates the right atmospherics for this scene of a shipwreck. The long exposure has created a misty effect on the sea which is adding to the mood here. Nicely done Nick.

Interesting post Nikolaos and I think your were right to post the B&W mode, I gives something abstract and ireal to this composition.
The wind over the sea is well captured.
Well done.

You are make a great job here Nikolaos! This pic goes in my Favorite list.

quelle image !! superbe.
le fond blanc permet au bateau de se détacher à merveille, et le petit brouillard à sa base donne un peu l'impression qu'il plane au dessus des eaux.
photo tres mysterieuse, j'y vois aussi bien un bateau du XX que du XVIe siècle.

the crop is perfect here, I like it.

seems a ghost ship,

the exposure...uhmmm I am not sure, seems too long, but that was your intention.

TFS.

K!

Nice Capture the speed of 4 seconds is gives a beautiful and strong ghost effect. Perfect for this boat.

Amazing, Strong and Simple.
A totally agree with the b/w choice and the crop give the mood and the air needed

Splendid Black & white photo i like the mood, great composition,

Well done !

A very nice motive! I just think you should have set your camera a little bit more to the left here without setting the ship in the middle. There seems to be an island in the left background. Good idea to have a long exposure.

Hello Nikolaos,

Very nice shot! The feeling given by the B&W is fabulous.
I have a technical question : How did you succeed to have such a good picture with an exposure time of 4 sec ? When I use this exposure time it's always by nigh, if not I only have a full white picture.

Thank you for your picture.

Regards

Pierre

wonderful - this wreck looks great in BW and picture has a gloomy look - like a wreck should have :-)

Μπορώ να πω οτι είναι η καλύτερη φωτογραφία αυτού του θέματος μέχρι σήμερα, για το μέλλον δεν εγγυώμαι.....

its once in a lifetime click u got.. really liked it. the faded background speaks like a dream and a tale of fight before the fate.. very nice. frame composed is nice coz the space in right gives an impression of the mighty ocean..certainly... wonderful!! keep sharing more.. but i would like to see a color version too... ciao

beautiful shot!
congratulations!

this shoot is charming.

i like this pic!

Great choice for Black and white!
I love the effect of the slow shutter on the water's action upon the hull, and the slightly overexposed sky makes the hull more prominent.

An great image of a beautiful old ship. Good decision to do it in black and white.

I like this photo very much. The slow shutter speed makes the spray from the waves look like fog enveloping the ship almost like a ghostship. Great job!

hello Nikolaos

good shoot in black and white good point of view
and framing to , Congratulation form Belgium
