The stone bridge of Kompsatos river Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here is the stone bridge of Kompsatos river (known in the ancient years as Kossinitis river). It was a 3-arched bridge, but the left (western) arch has collapsed. The other two remain in good conditions (if you want to have a closer look to the central arch, with its reflection creating a perfect ring, CHECK HERE ). The central arch has a width of 21,80 m and a height of 12,80 m, while the right (eastern) arch has a width of 17 m. It was constructed around 17-18th century, probably by builders from Epirus (like most of the stone bridges in my BRIDGES OF GREECE theme.

HOW TO GET THERE
The bridge is about 20 km to the west of Komotini. You 'll have to take the old National road that connects Komotini with Xanthi, and after you pass Polyanthos village, right before the modern bridge, you take a dirtroad for about 100 meters. Then you'll have to walk for about 300-400 meters by the banks of the river to find the bridge.

Hi dear Hercules, my dear friend
Back to your wellknown colors and clouds !
Anaother amazing capture with good pov and perfect light.
Nice geometry and perfect sharpness, followed by good and usefull notes. The bridge looks like to much as am Ottoman bridge, but who knows. Meybe somewhere there is a small marble plate with the inscription of the architect and when been built.

wonderful take of this old bridge again, have seen similiar buildings myself in Pilion, in Epirus i didn´t had the chance to visit Zagora in the last years..
very fine composition with splendid colors and a great reflection on the water, well taken..

I like places like this one, full of beauty and history. I´m not only enjoying the moment, but I try to imagine what happened here throughout the centuries.
The mirror is perfect, I´m thinking about the vertically centered position of the bridge...got no better solution.

This is a well composed shot of this great old stone bridge. The off center placement of the bridge works well here. The reflection is great and adds nice depth and balance to the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

As a landscape lover I cannot pass this photo unnoticed: the composition is splendid and the river in the foreground with the fine reflections give a good sense of depth. The warm colors and the intense sky complete this enchanting scenario.
