Wooden bridge in the heart of November, a photo from Trikala, Thessaly

Photographer's Note

This is wooden bridge at the entrance of the remote village of Athamania, Trikala Prefecture. Athamania is to the west of the winter resorts of Elati and Pertouli and also to the west of Aspropotamos (Acheloos) river, close to Gardiki village. Athamania is the last village of Trikala on the Southwest, very close to the borders with Arta Prefecture.

" Athamania is located 2 km away from Gardiki and it is built at an altitude of 900m. It was previously known as Moutsiara, which means “a lot of water” in Turkish. The present name of the village is believed to come from the King Athamantas, son of Aeolos. Traveling through Athamania, you can come across several monuments of historical value such as the church of St. Paraskevi, which is at the center of the village and was made of stone in 1849 while its bell-tower dates back to 1816. There are also the churches of St. Athanasios, - built in 1900 – of the Transfiguration and the chapels of Prophet Elias, St. Ioannis and the Apostles. It is worth visiting the watermill, which is still in operation since 1820 when the central bridge of the village was built, too.

Athamania is surrounded by the summits of Diakoptia, Krali, Prodromos, Kakarditsa (2429m.) and Pertousa while the Moutsiaritis River crosses it before flowing into the Acheloos River. The river’s banks are covered with willow trees and planes. The Public Forest of Athamania expands all over the area and it provides shelter for beeches, heaths, fir trees and farmed areas. Fauna is consisted of foxes, roes, hares, grouse, wolves and deer. On your tour round the village, you can rest in any of the village’s springs such as the “Agathaki”, the “Koutsouro”, “Prodromos” and “the spring of Skopos”.

There are about 800 people in summer in Athamania and they deal in timber felling, cattle breeding and apiculture. At the first weekend of August, the “wine festival” takes place in the central square of the village. Finally, the inhabitants have created the Cultural Association of all the Athamanians called “St. Paraskevi”."

I like the golden bottom of this image, Hercules. The in-your-face look at the bridge rails is also well-thought. I can't help looking for someone on the bridge dressed up in contrasting color. Best wishes,

This is a fine shot of this wooden bridge covered in autumn colored leaves. Your composition is fine using the bridge to lead the eye into the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

A feast of warm colours!
A composition made mainly of leaves and wood, simple and effective. Great sense of depth - the eye is lead along the bridge into the stairs. A taste of the earth preparing for the long winter. Sharp and brilliant.

γεια σου Ηρακλή,είδα τα νερά το γεφυράκι τη βλάστηση και πριν δω την περιοχή που την τράβηξες ενιωσα κάτι γνωστό και όμορφα συναισθήματα !πολύ ωραίο σημείο λήψης και καλή καταγραφή!ούτε η Κακαρδίτσα έχει γλυτώσει 2429 από τη συλλογή μου και έχει μια κορυφή ακόμη 2422 μια μυτη καμια 500 μέτρα πιο πέρα.επίσης υπάρχει ο Καταρραχιάς δίπλα 2299μ και η Τσούμα Πλαστάρι και πολλές άλλες σε ενα μεγάλο τρεκκινγκ άνω τον 2000 μ .εδώ δίνουν και παίρνουν φίλε Ηρακλή κυνηγοι και χρυσοθήρες μπόλικοι, ελάχιστοι περιπατητές. εσύ είσαι στο μικρό ποσοστό των περηπατητών!καλή συνεχεια

Reminds me of 7 Lakes (a national park in Bolu / Turkey), where we were there last weekend with a group of TE friends...
I took almost the same image from same point, but in a totally different place... It is sooo wierd...
So autumn is similar everywhere with fallen leaves, bridge and water flowing gently...

esta toma es un cambio simpático en tu trabajo, para captar la belleza de los colores del otoño. Con este punto de vista centrado y simétrico has conseguido una profunda y espléndida perspectiva del puente de madera entre las hojas, con un gran grafismo.

Para no ser de Quintanilla del Coco la foto no está mal del todo.

La composición es correcta (léase buena o muy buena) y la luz... también.
Pero sigo pensando que si la foto fuera de mi pueblo me gustaría más.
