Photographer’s Note

This is Roussanou Monastery, "floating", on a "waterfall" of fog.

Roussanou Monastery is also know as Agias Varvaras Monastery. It was established (probably) around 1388 by the monks Necodemus and Benedict. Today functions as a nunnery. Open to visitors daily, except Wednesday, from 09:00-14:00 (winter) and 09:00-18:00 (summer).

Kalimera Hercules,

this pictures remebers me a lot of my first visible contact with those famous monasteries, was in the early eighties then the World Rally Championship took place on a special stage aorund Kalambaka and the monasteries.. the little car on the wet road looks a bit like in older times..

Hi Hercules, before reading your Note, I couldn't work out whether it was mist or spray rising from waterfalls. If my memory is good, I have one of your photographs in my favourites, another photograph which presents this extraordinary place. By visiting your gallery, I have recognized your style. You have a splendid gallery which interest me much because I have the project to go perhaps to Greece next year.
Beautiful this shot ! The place is very amazing and your photo frees a great atmospher.
I visited Greece and Meteora when I was young (last year ;-) no, when I was 7 years approximately) but I don't remember this place.
Thanks for sharing it.
