Photographer's Note

Metéora (Greek: Μετέωρα, "suspended rocks", "suspended in the air" or "in the heavens above") is the name for a number of monasteries in Greece.
Several Eastern Orthodox monasteries are part of the complex, located in Kalambaka, Greece. The site is almost as important as Mount Athos.
The monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Peneios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece.
The Metéora is home to six monasteries and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

ciao cara eleni questo è un sito fotografico veramente famoso e ultra inflazionato ma tu sei riuscita a darne un interpretazione diversa ripresa da un altro punto di vista
forse non sei stato molto aiutata dalla luce ma il risultato ottenuto è veramente interessante e grazioso

The monasteries really look 'suspended in the air'!
It's an amazing landscape and an awesome place to live in a monastery.
Very beautiful with the sunlit rocks and their parts in the shadow. I also like the fact that we don't see a sky but another beautiful mountain landscape as background.

A striking landscape and a great capture. it is a unique architectural complex and the monks never suffer with vertigo as all monastries seem to be stuck on top of the hard rock columns like this. Well done, TFS.

Η γωνία που έχετε χρησιμοποιήσει σε αυτό το σκηνικό είναι ιδανικό για αυτή τη φωτογραφία των Μετεώρων, και η αρχιτεκτονική του. Μου αρέσει το ανάγλυφο σαν 3D των βράχων, αλλά και το καλό έλεγχο του φωτός δύσκολο σε τέτοιες συνθήκες.
Καλή η έκθεση, σε αυτή την ωραίο σύνθεση.

The monastery middle of the high mountains care for a wonderful panoramic view.

A beautiful perspective over the clives of Meteora and the monastery built atop.
Almost a 3D pic. as the far side ridge and closer mighty rocks appear on image, and also notable the side light shed upon.

ο φωτισμός έφερε μεγάλες δυσκολίες τις οποίες κατάφερες να γυρίσεις υπέρ σου κάνοντας τους εντυπωσιακούς βράχους να μοιάζουν τρισδιάστατοι. Το στενό κάδρο δίνει ξεχωριστή δύναμη και γοητεία στις υφές οι οποίες τονίζονται ακόμη περισσότερο χάρη στο φόντο. Τα χρώματα είναι πολύ όμορφα και η αίσθηση του βάθους συναρπαστική. Συγχαρητήρια και ευχαριστώ!

Ciao Eleni, tra voi fotografi greci presenti nel sito i monasteri delle meteore sono state il soggetto preferito.
Questa tua è l'ultima in ordine di tempo, ma non per questo inferiore alle altre perchè si arricchisce di colori saturi e decisi che legano con l'asprezza del luogo, noto in tutto il mondo proprio per queste caratteristiche.
Penso che qualora dovessi venire in Grecia non perderò di raggiungere questo posto meraviglioso.

(It is truth Paço d`Arcos village still keeps the old buildings. But some have been restore and the landscape changes). Now commenting this photo I wonder how the monks live so many years enclosure inside walls. Have the monks women? AT least the catholic prists are supposed for having not them. But it is a shame the sex scandals with persons of the same gender. Curiously I do not see such thing with the islamics!... I do appreciate these monasteries built on huge cliffs. Somethin unnatural in the world as we know it! Anyway the monks culture must be very interesting for living and follow. I would very much like to enter inside a monastery but I do not know whether it is allowed or not. Warm regards. Tomi
