Photographer's Note
What is right? Simply put, it is any assignment in which the photographer has a significant spiritual stake... spiritually driven work constitutes the core of a photographer's contribution to culture.
William Albert Allard
What's really important is to simplify. The work of most photographers would be improved immensely if they could do one thing: get rid of the extraneous. If you strive for simplicity, you are more likely to reach the viewer.
William Albert Allard
You've got to push yourself harder. You've got to start looking for pictures nobody else could take. You've got to take the tools you have and probe deeper.
William Albert Allard
The son of a Swedish immigrant, William Albert Allard studied at the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts and the University of Minnesota with the hope of becoming a writer. Transferring to University of Minnesota after a only year, he enrolled in the journalism program. He graduated in 1964 with a double major in journalism and photography...
Looking for work in the field of photojournalism, Allard met Robert Gilka, then National Geographic's director of photography, while in Washington, D.C., and was offered an internship. His most notable work as an intern included his photographs of the Amish for an article entitled "Amish Folk: Plainest of Pennsylvania's Plain People,"(published in August 1965). It is said to be regarded as landmark in the photographic evolution of National Geographic. His work led to a full time position with the magazine.
In 1967, after just two years, Allard resigned from his position at National Geographic, feeling that he was unable to contribute to the issues of the time, such as the Vietnam War in a way that it seemed possible at other magazines such as Life Magazine.
He continued to do assignments as a freelance photographer for National Geographic.
In 1982, Allard published his first book, "Vanishing Breed," a photographic essay documenting the "old American west". In 1989 he published his second work, a retrospective of his work entitled "The Photographic Essay" .He continued to work for National Geographic, eventually taking up his second full time position at the magazine.
Allard has also worked as a contributor to Magnum Photos.
Allard is one of the few photographers of his generation whose entire professional body of work is in color.....etc..W..

Good Morning Georgios,
Your dof provides a good, sharp f/g, full of colour and implied movement. Then, moving to a gentler but interesting b/g which blocks the viewer and keeps him focussed on the details within the pool.
Pleasing and colourful.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Georgios,
une vue très colorées de ces modestes bateaux de pêche.
L'arrière plan manque un peu de netteté, une profondeur de champ sans doute un peu courte. Je me demande si un format horizontal n'aurait pas été meilleur.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Georgios
Simply glorious colours and composition - love the broken reflection as strong focal point. But I like the strength of the diagonal lines and the white boat offers great overall contrast that make this image standout stunningly.. Nice balanced exposure, sharpness and layout. Great capture, Well done. TFS
Best regards

Georgios
Pour moi, le bas de l'image est plus intéressant que le haut un peu flou et je partage la critique et l'avis de Daniel. Un format carré serait peut-être à tenter également?

Hi Georgios
looking at this scene, its only my opinion, but i would cut out the top half just above the white boat..that white boat and the reflections, colors, and lighting are the stars of the show.
love the rippling effect and abstract paint in the water.
cheers
craig
