A dedication required of the stairs in Alonissos island all climbs and descents, stairs and rough trails, certainly not the ideal place for those who have some difficulty in moving.Pic taken in the old town. The old village is located on one of the highest hills of the island. The country, beautifully renovated after the earthquake of 1965, comes to life in the late afternoon when they open doors restaurants, taverns and workshops in conjunction arrival of swarms of hikers from other parts of the island with the intention of enjoying the beautiful sunsets.
Alonissos is the least touristed island in the Sporades Islands. It is 3 km (2 nm) E of the island of Skopelos. Alonissos is also the name of a village on the island. The Municipality of Alonissos includes several other islands.
The island at its widest is 4.5 km from northwest to southeast and at its longest is 20 km from southwest to northeast. The island is mostly limestone. It is located east of mainland Greece and Magnesia, northeast of Euboea and northwest of the island of Skyros. Alonissos has one main road which leads to three villages in the western part of the island and several unused roads throughout the island.
The village of Alonissos is located on the southern part of the island. It is locally known as Chora. The main port of the island is located in the southeast and is called Patitiri. There is ferry and hydrofoil service from Patitiri to Volos, Agios Konstantinos, and Thessaloniki on the mainland and to the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros. The bay at the southern end of the island is also called Alonissos.

Ciao caro Luciano,
I see that you have now been seduced into posting pictures larger than 800 pixels wide! And, of course, this picture looks so very much better and more detailed in its larger size on the "beta" version of TE.
An interesting note and a delightful photograph with lovely bold composition, fine light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
photoray (6628) 2013-10-05 18:32
From the thumbnail view I guessed a geometric wall building, and was surprised you cleverly zoomed in on a curved stairway.
jjcordier (67146) 2013-10-05 22:41

Depth well collected, double meaning here with the view downstairs.
Fine photojob with good light and clarity.

ah,these beautiful Greek steps-steep,colorful and so picturesque.Even if I´m lazy I could walk them up and down everyday:)
Your POV looking down together with close-up captures well the most important features here-beauty of the steps and its steepness. But also so soft and warm light helps a lot to depict the steps from their most capivating side with nice colors and good textures visible.
Have a nice sunday
timecapturer (36972) 2013-10-06 2:19
anyone who has visited the Greek islands knows the need to negotiate stairs and steps to truly enjoy the experience. This is a wonderfully original view with superb sharp detailing and delicious shadows to create depth and a sense of adventure. Excellent!
Enjoy your Sunday - Brian.

macondo (18461) 2013-10-06 2:32
With the help of the sunlight and shadows and some very good cropping, you have produced a most appealing yet deceptively simple graphic photo. You use the steps and the corners of your frame very well to create the angle of view. Really very nicely conceived and executed. Good note, and thank you for the map link - always appreciated and enjoyed!
snunney (72566) 2013-10-06 2:55
Not somewhere to venture after one drink too many:-) A well composed graphical image with very good light and sharpness.
ourania (18506) 2013-10-06 2:58
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona domenica,
jacquest (16340) 2013-10-06 4:22
You chose an angle of view to prove your point, the dangers of stairs, especially for impaired people. The white lines bordering the stairs create some sort of graphic pattern. I like the light in this sharp composition.
Noel_Byrne (13204) 2013-10-06 4:52
I like this unusual view very much, but would worry that if I look at it too long I may fall off my chair, as its a wonderfully dizzying shot, hahaha. Very clever point of view to create this fine set of geometric shapes and with perfect depth.
Sergiom (45244) 2013-10-06 5:29
holmertz (31208) 2013-10-06 6:25
I think this picture shows how a composition can be improved just by shifting the POV a little bit. Instead of trying to capture the steps all the way to the bottom you moved to the side and concentrated on the upper part, giving us a nice contrast between the rounded upper few steps and the ordinary straight ones below. The white lines at the edges of the steps create a fine pattern.

Bien vu mon ami.
Passe une belle semaine,

Splendid detail, a true original work of art here made almost from nothing... Good work, enjoy a fine evening.
Royaldevon (21367) 2013-10-06 11:15
This is a great shot!
It took me completely by surprise as I perceived it as something quite different from the thumbnail.
It is unusual to be 'going down' in a shot but you have certainly created that impression!
Your pov is well chosen for the steps narrow appropriately to funnel the viewers to a strong vanishing point.
Excellent sharpness and good light control.
My warm regards,
delpeoples (48568) 2013-10-06 13:08

gervaso (9247) 2013-10-07 4:27
Very nice view of the stairs, shown with an interesting and original framing, which gives the image a very good graphical effect! Very good light and textures! Beautiful job!
kato (9492) 2013-10-07 5:18
You're capturing well this scene by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the stairs with the corkscrew shape the wooden handrail. It's also tasteful for repeat patterns of white and thin brown. And, the shadow projected to the stairs draw out a good impact in this image.

I like the repetitious pattern of those arcs. Good lighting and sharp details. Well done, tfs.
adramad (30851) 2013-10-07 8:10
You've done a superb use of the ladder, to capture this image as artistic, original and engaging. The curvature of the steps and the edges painted white, play an important role for the magnificent graphic image.
A superb light management, sharpness also
is perfect to enjoy the picture.
Very well done.
Have a good day.
rychem (13553) 2013-10-07 8:37
Very nice graphical photo, it seems to be a high staircase, we can have a fear of heights. Very well senn
danos (78036) 2013-10-07 11:55
fascinating the view of the stairs with the tight frame to make them even more effective and unique.I like the creative perspective, the light management as enhance the vivid colours as the clarity of the image.Well done.
pierrefonds (50948) 2013-10-07 16:17
subhendu_bagchi (20960) 2013-10-07 18:32
wow, what an interesting composition. Like the repeatating curves here. They add nice graphism to it. Excellent light and superb depth. A very nice composition. Tfs.
jcpix (6504) 2013-10-07 19:10
This is proof that not all graphic imagery needs to be done in black & white...this packs just as much of a visual "punch!" For something most people would pass by, or walk on by...literally...you've composed and created an intriguing photograph. The directional sunlight is a sublime touch to compliment the warm range of tones, and given a little added emphasis on the curves. A smart observation and well layed out framing. Isn't it great when the simplest of things comes together like this? :) Enjoy the day ahead.
Friendly wishes from Arizona,
macjake (45556) 2013-10-08 1:26
haha...funny and creative shot.
we don't see this type of shot too often but it works well.
I always say its important to look UP, but now I must say its equally important to look DOWN! :)
good shot in this warm light.
Kugart (1762) 2013-10-08 6:43
A very nice composition looking down the curved steps with the white edgings which give a very pleasant visual affect in the photograph . Can't help thinking this is not for sufferers of vertigo. Superb as always.

A fantastic downward pov on the stone stairs in Greece with nice repetition of the curving patterns and shapes. Good sharpness and effective tight framing. The cracks and chipping add authenticity. Excellent graphism and the minimalist color lends itself to a possible b&w conversion. Bella weekend!
luciola (2636) 2013-10-12 9:01

excellent the use of these curious curved stairs. I liked the graphic mood of the compo. creative and well done.
annjackman (15481) 2013-10-13 6:21
I do like your view point - although it makes me feel as if I am about to fall down those steps! The pattern produced by the curved steps and the white edging makes a graphic image that is very pleasing. Imaginative photography.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello dear Luciano,
I'd missed this wonderfull arcitectorial capture with perfect pov and amazing graphical effect.
Also in b&w the effect is great.
I've made a WS and posted it. Hope you'll like it.

Luciano, I'm not sure I would have recognized this for what it is without your title. Really inventive POV here, together with nice tight framing to emphasize the central subject. Thanks for posting.

thats an amazing graphic shot..brilliantly thought out and shot.love the curves and the light and shadow play.
josepmarin (56471) 2013-10-23 9:48
mcmtanyel (5143) 2013-11-05 15:44
These stairs might have been hard on the cardiovascular system and/or the legs, but they are miraculous for the optical system. I love the patterns they generate. Well seen and wonderfully rendered.
gus72 (3380) 2013-11-30 15:46
Ciao Luciano !!
you got such an acute angle looking down that makes this image rather unusual and can even give people vertigo !!!!!!!
so I give you FULL marks for your imagination and good execution......
the white painted edges add to the graphic value of the photo.
