Displayed here is a traditional building in the mountain village of Agios Lavrendios. Itís situated on 700m high on the flanks of mount Pelion on the Pelion peninsula . Itís near one of the many brooks and little cascades that are on this beautiful green mountain. A dilapidated water-powered olive press is nearby.
The upper parts of Mount Pelion are often shrouded in clouds as is the case here.
The pictures I took in this and other gorgeous mountain villages in Pelion all stand apart form my other pics of Greek villages. This because of the sometimes strange paintschemes, the typical architecture, the big amount of constructed space that is reserved for public places as church- and town squares and taberna terraces. Another speciality is the road infrastructure. Itís almost exclusively formed by narrow and steep and twisting stone path on which donkeys and mules, laden with bricks for building sites and beverages for the taberna are a very common site.
Παράξενες εικόνες (Paraxenes eikones , Strange pictures) is the 2004 album of the Greek songstress Anna Vissi

So very charming and atmospheric picture with a style of its own, Bert!
Love the way you managed light and spoted the play of colours, forming such a wonderful and unpretentious yet beautiful composition. Excellent shot and a very sharp eye to catch it! :-)) Thank you for sharing!

Hi Bert, good to see a new one from you. It's filled with charming detail of the village buildings. I like the dashes of yellow in between the crisp bricks and tiles, as well as the delightful greenery added by the trees. Great handling of the light, and beautiful colors all over. Very nice one.

The colors in this one definitely bring me in, Bert. Very beautiful. Excellent contrast as well. The buildings textures really stand out. This kind of building looks familiar to me. Just sort of pieced together in appearance. Different facade surfaces. Squeezed between some trees. It's very well lit. You made great use of the lighting to bring out the textures and colors, also. It's a beautiful little spot and you really shared it with us wonderfully.
