Photographer’s Note

When the summer arrives in Greece, fires are the greatest problem. The state does not take the right measures, and people are not cautious enough. Therefore, the firefighters are the only and last line of 'defence' against the catastrophic fires. The pilots of such planes make heroic attempts diving into the fires as close as possible! Many of them have lost their lives on duty.
Ten years ago, during my army service, I was part of a squad with mission to gather the remains of such a plane that had crashed to Pelio mountain. Both of the pilots had died.

I dedicate this one to all of those modern heroes that give their best to save a piece of green earth for our children.
