For Valentine Day....from the Palace of the Grand Master

Rhodes (Greek: Ρόδος Rhódhos; Italian Rodi; Ladino: Rodi or Rodes; Ottoman Turkish: ردوس Rodos) is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in terms of both land area and population, situated in eastern Aegean Sea. This Greek island lies approximately 11 miles (18 km) to the west of the Turkish shores, situated between the Greek mainland and the island of Cyprus. As of 2001, it has a population of 117,007 of which 53,709 reside in the capital city of the island.

The Palace of the Grand Master

The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is a palace in the town of Rhodes, on the island of Rhodes in Greece. The palace was built in th 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes (now officially known as the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta), who occupied Rhodes from 1309 to 1522. After the island was captured by the Ottoman Empire, the palace was used as a fortress.
The original palace was largely destroyed by an ammunition explosion in 1856. When the Italians occupied Rhodes in 1911, they rebuilt it in a grandiose pseudo-medieval style as a holiday residence for the King of Italy, and later for Benito Mussolini, whose name can still be seen on a large plaque near the entrance. When Greece reclaimed the island from Italy in 1948, the palace became a museum.

I like how you framed this shot with the archway George, and there's a nice interaction between the couple.
You know, I think it would have worked even better if you'd reduced the exposure so that the couple were rendered as silhouettes against that bright background. That would have given you deeper shadows too, and got rid of the slight over-exposure in the background.
In terms of the concept and the framing though, I think this is very good indeed.

Cheers,
Ben

Hallo George!
I like this one because your picture combines impressive architecture, interesting history and "normal live" as a wonderful silhouette. In inventive modality of presenting such an historic place! Congrats to this idea!
Greetings from still sunny but cooler Germany!
Frank

Hello George

A scene very appropriate on this day Valentine.

The composition is very nice too romantic under the shadow of the arch. The protagonists are well inside the frame and perspective in the background, detailing some very charming and warm tones.

Thank you for sharing it.

Great shot for Valentine's day! You have managed to combine romance and travel in the same shot, by not only including the young couple, but also some interesting archictecture and history. I especially like the way you used the arch to provide a natural frame for the scene. Well done!

George
Toi aussi tu as su trouver l'image qui colle bien ŕ l'actualité du jour avec ces amoureux qui préfčrent une tendre complicité ŕ l'ombre plutôt que d'admirer les merveilles architecturales inondées de soleil.
Amicalement
JJ

Hi George

Good upload for Valentines Day. The arch nicely frames the silhouetted lovers, & the rest of the scene, & adds marvellous graphism. Excellent sharpness, & tfs!

Hello George,
A very romantic feeling to this image; their poses say it all! I like this capture of silhouettes against the backdrop of golden stones. Well seen and executed.

Hello George,
A very attractive composition. Architectural details look mighty fine, the interplay of shadow and light is appealing, and the inclusion of the semi-silhouetted couples lend drama. Best regards, Danilo

Good capture of the great architecture through the black shadowed arch. Lovely colours and details. It's a wonderful shot.

Hello George,

This is a nice framing of the couple. It does seem like a nice romantic moment in this beautiful place. Light is awesome and the window created by the door frame allow a nice balance of shadows and light. Nicely composed image. Thanks George.

Szia Gyuri!
Laci
