Photographer’s Note

Every corner of Syros has something special... maybe it's its smell, maybe it's its atmosphere... but you cannot miss it.

It was late and I went down to the port. However I stopped in a lot of places because all of them were amazing.
The houses, the streets, the old and narrow streets, the cats and also the motorcycles,... everything was on their place. And everything created a great atmosphere where the sea was the last and most important point.

When you reach one place like this island you fall in love.
Everything is different here.
And you must feel and life everything here.

Apart from the Greek writing this is not so typically Greek as expected. You have handled the light very well with patches of light and dark to contend with. You know me by now and focus - I just wish the gnarled old tree on the left was in focus.

You've caught an inviting corner of a lovely place very well. I love the fresh colors and the weel-handled patterns of light and shadow. With regard to composition, I feel the tree on the right is unncessary (see my WS and see if you agree). Good work.

Tienes la sensibilidad para sentir la atmósfera del lugar donde vive la gente y lo que es importante para ellos. No es un turista convencional, sino un viajero. Muy buena toma, llena de luz y bonitos colores.

I walk very gladly through these type of narrow streets, this gives a feeling with the old time.

A veces pienso que una de las cosas que diferencia mas las fotos y filmes de la realidad es la ausencia de olor, mas que la ausencia de 3ª dimensión, porque esa se puede intuir mas fácilmente. A pesar de eso, creo que lograste mostrar el encanto de esta calle vacía, típicamente mediterránea.

Sí señor...un angulo muy apropiado para esta preciosa calle, con todo su sabor mediterraneo. El efecto que da la pared de la izquierda en la composición está muy bien aprovechado, así como los tonos de color y la preciosa luz...que envidia de pasar allí unos días!!!

se me pasó ésta... y quizá es de las que más me gustan... no es muy de tu estilo ¿no? pero realmente fue un acierto fotografiar este rincón.

Dan ganas de perderse por esas calles, no me extraña que tengas ganas de volver a Grecia.

Such a typically beautiful European scene. I really like the light here. I also really like the scooter in the background--I'm not sure why, but it adds variety to the scene. I wish the tree on the left of the frame weren't blurry though.

Good lightmanagement (despite the shadows), depth and lovely colours.
If the motor wouldn't be there, one could easely get the idea/impression that time stood still/had stopped.
