imerovigli, a photo from Kyklades, South Aegean

Photographer's Note

Imerovigli (Greek: Ημεροβίγλι) is actually a neighbourhood of Fira village, as it is only 2 km away from the capital of Santorini. Imerovigli is mostly famous for its beautiful sunset, that it is called "balcony to the Aegean". Its houses are built amphitheatrically around the caldera and it is crossed by narrow, paved paths.

Imerovigli has many lovely churches, all made in the Cycladic architectural style. They most notable are the church of Ai-Stratis, in the centre of the village, and the Monastery of Saint Nikolaos, on the way connecting Imerovigli to Fira. Another famous site of Imerovigli is Skaros, which are the remains of a Venetian Castle built in 1207 by Marco Sanudo, the ruler of all Cyclades islands that time.

Imerovigli has only 470 permanent inhabitants.

Beautiful sharp image of this greek village. I love all the different levels and the way you have included people in various poses. Your image is still eyecatching with the high ISO, to lower it would have brought out the colours more, I suppose. Possibly you could add some contrast or saturation and repost. Well captured.

Egy kis kavalkád és káosz. Gyönyörűek a legömbölyített falak, a pasztell színek, a furcsa kémények. A kóválygó emberek, hab a tortán. Nagyon jó életkép. Szép formák, gyönyörű árnyékok. Nem is értem, te miért nem maradtál ott örökre? .-)

this is my favorite photo that you have posted from Greece! love the tall vertical presentation, and how the staircases and different colored homes seem to blend into eachother..
and also, there are people at different heights making the scene appear larger

This unconventional building provide a very intricate pattern and you have composed this picture in a very pleasant and attractive way, with a good diagonal line of light brown parts together. Inclusion of different persons improve the capture considerably.

very sweet colors. Surprisingly it is not all white or blue but has some subtle tones. I like very much this unusual architecture, it seems like from another world. The people are very important here as they show a scale and also they are a proof that it is a real world.
