Santorini is famous for the much photographed blue domed and colorful churches that can be seen in the entire island. So every tourist coming to Santorini wants to have at least one picture of it.Of course-me to:)
I took this image during my visit to Pyrgos-one of the most picturesque towns on the island.

Fantastic composition in blue and white with bright daylight shining, Krzysztof.
Two young ladies are well placed on picture, added life to the walls, and scale to the size of the place.
Have a nice sunday afternoon,

Fira and Oia are very famous but I don't know Pyrgos. Apparently the same style and colours and also irresistibly beautiful.
The wonderful shapes and colours can make someone fall in love with this architecture.
Well taken from in the narrow street leading to the church.
Very good with the inclusion of the other visitors.
Best regards, Paul

Excellent church close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. Superb low angle viewpoint. Two ladies add nice life to the scene. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions. Well done.

a wonderful, elegant composition in a slim vertical frame that focuses on the architectural shapes and exalts them. The structures are defined superbly by lines, colours and shadows. The presence of the two girls enhances the sense of depth, animates the setting and balances the composition. They couldn't have been better placed and it's great that their colours integrate in the scenery so harmoniously. I think that the tonal graduation from the warmth of the bottom to the crisp cold tones at the top is marvellous. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely Sunday,

I love Pyrgos, and this church is one of the highlights of the fascinating stroll around the narrow streets. A wonderfully sharp and detailed image with enticing lines and shadows. I had the place to myself when I visited so could not include any human elements to give a sense of the scale of this elegant and beautiful church, which this image does perfectly. A must see for any visitor to Santorini. Glorious image!
Enjoy your Sunday - Brian.

hi krzysztof. no matter how often photographed, this charming architecture is always attractive. and seeing these blue domes and white walls from the perspectives of different photographers is a gift of TE. the "almost bookmark" crop is rather effective and the ladies add a good sense of scale. you had good control over the strong light.
Gigidusud (18243) 2013-11-10 3:47
Great framing and excellent POV on this splendid architecture typical of Greece. I like a lot!
Have a nice Sunday,

I like your ideas and approach with this eye catching image - the symbol and trademark of the famous blue & white domes in subtle colors so finely detailed in slim- bookmark format. The light quality, exposure and shadows combination is so subtle along with good selective vivid colours depicting a superb overall impact. Credit to your cleverly planned and so
mouth watering executed shot. Very impressive work, Congrats.

Przecudna pocztówka! Niebieskie tony pięknie grają z białymi i stworzyły doskonale przyciagajacy uwagę widok.
SnapRJW (31627) 2013-11-10 5:27
Hello Krzysztof - Your vertical crop focuses all attention on the architectural features of the church, which, I might say, has been photographed under splendid light. The shapes of the domes are really apparent as the shade graduates to light across their surfaces. I think the simplicity of the typical architecture very much... so unfussy and clean and your composition bears this out. Very attractive shot. Warm regards Rosemary

I hear Santorini, and I always picture these churches, they have become so famous, a real icon of the place. And as ever, you have managed to take that subject and do something brand new with it! I usually see these churches from the higher perspective, looking down and out over the sea, but you have breathed the life of tourism in by deliberately including the two girls there taking their own memory to bring home. You have captured both the church, and the spirit of them and what they mean for the island.
I love your off centre composition too, taking in that fine shadow in the foreground.
Thanks as always

Ciao e buona domenica

Hello, my friend,
I like this view, very attractive scene. and I also like so beautiful church, good balanced composition.
You told me your experience with camera and I remember when I've forgot to change my camera settings (luminescent lamps) and all my Spanish series of 2013 have got some blue hues... Very stupid mistake )))
All the best wishes,

yes, everyone has to capture these charming domes and churches, and yes again, its easy to see why.
nice to see the people in the frame too, adds a bit of realism to it, something we can maybe relate to.
very impressed with the exposure levels, they're spot on. I would imagine it would be so easy to overexpose the whites here.

fantastic frame and pov.love the light and the colors and the architecture.very greece.

Ooh a bookmark cut, quite unusual for your Gallery and very eye-catching. The blue and white tones are magnificent, as are the play of light and shadows. Including the girls also gives us a sense of scale and another element of interest. The Obsessive Compulsive in me would have cloned that thing on the right just near the girls, but that really is nit-picking :)
Warmest wishes, thanks for sharing, I love your Greek Odyssey

superb view. Nice architecture, very well captured. The blue-white contrast which is a symbol of Greece is again superb. Sharp presentation with perfect light. Tfs.

This is a very well managed shot with lovely detail in all areas. I like the dome being off-centre with the two women to balance it. The wall and gate have made an interesting shadow and lead in into the picture very well. Clean lines, gorgeous colours - brilliant!
Kind Regards, Ann

Very beautiful and lovely picture!
Sharpness, colors and, above all, management of light, slim vertical format, chosen pov, contrasts and compositiion are all excellent (maybe just two "buts", as to some details on the right that could have been cut off)!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week,
jhm (145156) 2013-11-11 2:55
We get splendid Greek colours blue and white with a lovely dome as real eye catcher.
The two ladies are a nice addition and give the picture a nice touch.
Nice depth and perspective picture
You chose a very well angle.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice new week,

Very nice street scene from that amazing place. The presence of those two women breaks the monotony of the lazy day. Well taken.
adramad (41144) 2013-11-12 7:30
I remember this church and in fact I have a similar picture.
I love your composition this vertical format narrower and gives the feeling of greater perspective, the girls put the tourist snap, very well managed lights and shadows, with a good tint in the whites.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy a good evening.
All the best.
josepmarin (58031) 2013-11-13 3:20
a good view on the typical narrow streets in Santorini, with its beautiful white architecture, the blue dome, a good play of light and shades, and the presence of both girls, taking their touristic photos as well.

I can see two very good reasons for going to Santorini! Neither of them have anything to do with architecture or blue domed churches!
An excellent composition that pays careful attention to the shapes, lines and areas of light and shade. Good work.
mcmtanyel (17183) 2013-11-20 18:21
The classical beauty of the Greek islands presented skillfully and with a fresh look. The curves and the shadows are most pleasant.

I really must add Greece to our next overseas holidays - the islands would have to be some of the most photographed in the World - You have captured a beautiful photo here - the light always appears to be beautiful in the images from Greece & I guess thats because of the sunny climate.
I like the shadows of the gate & the fact that you have captured the girls in the scene is great... EXCELLENT COMPOSITION!!!
Hansaphotos (7481) 2013-11-28 13:30
A fine presentation of this typical Greek scene. The tight framing suits the scene well. You have managed light and colours excellently. Lovely shapes and architectural details. Nice inclusion of the tourists. Fine work:)

jcpix (13820) 2013-12-12 14:18
I'd be shocked if this were anywhere other than Greece, the classic blue & white is immediately recognizable. Such smooth coloring here, playing with the light and shade, this is quite a masterful exposure. You've provided quintessential elements of the islands, but with a bit of a wrinkle to make it stand out from the crowd....as there's no hint of the sea within sight. More often than not, it seems that it's almost inevitable, but this takes on a slightly different attraction concentrating on full shape, form and texture rather than the open and scenic views.
Good idea to include the tourists, and catching one doing the same...taking a photo. :) Who wouldn't want to though...this is beautiful, bright and charismatic. I'm only surprised there aren't more people clogging up the narrow paths and making it absolutely impossible to take a decent shot. You got one though, and a great one at that!
My friendliest wishes,
fritzi007 (9157) 2014-03-02 12:05
