Photographer's Note

It was about 14:00 midday with a lot of sun,when I saw this young boy jumping the stairs to reach the end of it.

Apeiranthos
Apeiranthos or Aperathu (in Greek: Απείρανθος or Απεράθου) is a mountainous village in the island of Naxos (Greece). It is located 28 km north-east of the capital of the island, built on the foothill of mountain Fanari, on an altitude between 550 and 650 m. It is a village with a very rich history and folkloric tradition. The similarities of the local dialect and traditions to the mountainous Crete villages has lead some historians to the conclusion that Apeiranthos was built by Cretans during the 10th century. The first historical evidence regarding the existence of the village goes back to 1420, on a reference by the Italian traveler Cristoforo Buondelmonti on his book Liber insularum archipelagi (The Book of the Islands of the Archipelago). Nowadays, the village has four museums: the Archaeological Museum of Apeiranthos, the Museum of Folk Art, the Geological Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. With a population of 1078 (2001 census), the village is one of the biggest in the island.It is considered by many visitors the most beautiful and picturesque village of the island.

Απείρανθος

Η Απείρανθος ή τ’ Απεράθου είναι ένα χωριό της ορεινής ανατολικής Νάξου.Βρίσκεται 28 χιλιόμετρα ΒΑ της πρωτεύουσας του νησιού, στην ανατολική πλαγιά του όρους Φανάρι, σε υψόμετρο μεταξύ 550 και 650 μέτρων.
Η Απείρανθος είναι ένα παραδοσιακό ανατολικομεσημβρινό πετρόκτιστο χωριό με πλούσια ιστορία και παράδοση. Οι ομοιότητες της τοπικής διαλέκτου και των παραδόσεων με τα ορεινά χωριά της Κρήτης οδήγησε μερικούς ιστορικούς στο συμπέρασμα ότι η Απείρανθος χτίστηκε από Κρητικούς τον 10ο αιώνα μ.Χ. ή το αντίστροφο. Η πρώτη ιστορική αναφορά του χωριού μας πάει πίσω στο 1420, όπου ο ιταλός ταξιδευτής Cristoforo Buondelmonti το αναφέρει στο βιβλίο του «Liber insularum archipelagi» (The book of the islands of the Archipelago).
Στη σύγχρονη εποχή, η Απείρανθος έχει δημοτικό σχολείο και τέσσερα μουσεία: το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Απειράνθου, Λαογραφικό Μουσείο, Γεωλογικό Μουσείο και Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας. Με πληθυσμό 1078 κατοίκους (βάση της απογραφής του 2001) το χωριό είναι ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα του νησιού. Συνδέεται οδικά με την Μουτσούνα Νάξου και με τ΄ άλλα παραλιακά χωριά της ΝΑ. Νάξου. Βρίσκεται επί του ανατολικού οδικού άξονα Χώρα Νάξου - Φιλώτι - Απείρανθος - Σταυρός Νάξου ή Κεραμωτής. Θεωρείται από πολλούς επισκέπτες ως το πιο όμορφο και γραφικό χωριό του νησιού.

A very well composed picture of this street.
Interesting with the view upstairs and the small cozy corner in the left bottom.
Only one person defies the heat by running up the stairs. I suppose the others are enjoying an ouzo.

The man running up the stairs is sending my eyes toward the top which is giviing depth and perspective to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the house. The nice blue sky is sending a light which is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Fine vertical composition and a funny shot with the man jumping up the stairs at midday in a sunny day in June in Greece. Not everyone would be able to do that. I hope he did not fall before he reached the top of the stairs. It is evident from your picture that he still have number of steps left. TFS and have a nice weekend!

Even your watermark is perfectly positioned in this composition ;).

A great shot - many of us would look at this street of stairs and get an average photograph out of them; you have got a great shot out of them. I think the key is the chairs and table in the foreground (which are quite intruiging - why are all 4 chairs facing the camera? Are there 4 invisible people posing for you?). And obviously the motion you have got in to the frame with the young man running up the stairs.
