Imerovigli on the island of Santorini, Greece has some beautifully kept hotels and houses that cling to the very edge of the caldera. Some have impressively kept little roof gardens that give imposing views across the sunken volcano and onto the other islands and villages. This view is across the caldera bay at the little white clouds forming above the island of Thirasia. This island is part of the outer edge of the sunken volcano and once used to be joined to Santorini until the catastrophic eruption that formed the islands as they are now. The eruption took place in the Minoan period of Greek history and is believed to be one of the most violent and devastating in recorded history.

A fascinating note. Is this the place where some believe was the location of the city of Atlantis which disappeared during the massive volanic eruption? I'm sure I saw something on telly about that a year or two ago. Whatever, this looks like a wonderful place to visit.
This, of course, is another of your wonderful photographs from your beloved Greek islands and I shall certainly never tire of looking at them.
Excellent composition, gorgeous colours and exquisite detail and sharpness.
P.S. I rather suspect that you are like me, have itchy feet and spend your holidays in places such as this exploring with your camera while your wife sits in the sun at the pool side reading novels? :o)

Hey Brian !
This is so pretty ! I love that we are able to see all the little details of the place like the stone floor, the small gate, the stones on the wall and the little potted plant etc... and at the same time have a good perspective of the global landscape. Light and colors are perfectly managed... simply beautiful!

we can thank this violent eruption to have given maybe the most beautiful islands of Greece. This view is magnificent, and we can envy the owner of this house to live here. The colors are, as usual in your pictures, really splendid.

perfetta la scelta del POV con il cancello bianco che apre la scena su questo panorama mozzafiato.
Brillante come sempre la resa dei colori,

back to your favorite subject! And that's another hit for me. You've got a knack for framing! Perfectly balanced composition with a welcome few happy puffy clouds. And this open door is like an invitation to contemplate the scenery. Awesome!

I actually said out loud to myself "wow" when i viewed this one for the first time.
having that small popcorn cloud in the centre is such a great addition.
the photo itself is so clear, so bright and with excellent exposure.

Wow Brian, Looking out of my window at the ice cold snow, then on to my screen to your warm inviting photo of this beautiful summer scene in Santorini, I yearn for hols and sun. The pool is beckoning, and the Island needs exploring, Tfs and adding a bit of warmth to this freezing day, Cheers Iain.

I confess I prefer to look at those sunlit photos you took in Greece rather than your recently uploaded icecold pics!

Greece is one of my favourite destinations and each time you post a photograph from this land, it is a pure enchantment for the eyes and an invitation to dream. I often compare your photo work to George Meis’, a very talented Greek photographer whose themes are also taken from Greek islands. In your gallery dedicated to Greece, all your pictures bring out the beauty of that land. They’re all so marvellous I was unable to make a choice. After lots of hesitation, I picked this one because the view is just fabulous and the atmosphere perfect for a blissful relaxation. The open wicket gate invites me in to enjoy the full view of the caldera bay and have a dip in the swimming pool. The touches of orange as a complimentary to the blue dynamize the composition and add some nice contrasting colours. The sharpness, definition and clarity are outstanding. Fantastic job !
Have a nice week.
P.S : Have you ever been to Crete ?
