Photographer's Note
Andros (Άνδρος), a member of the Kyclades islands. The highest peak of Andros is 944 m.
Andros is not a very touristic island but it is the home of several very rich shipowner families like the fabulously wealthy Goulandris; as a result it is very well kept without the usual tourist related hassles.
The island was named after the Cretan general Andros, the grandson of Apollo. It has been inhabited since pre-historic times by Karians, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Cretans, Pelasgians, and Ionian Greeks. During the 7th century BC Andros was very prosperous. In Classical times Andros was a reluctant member of the Delian League headed by Athens. During the 13th century AD it was taken from the Byzantines by the Frankish crusaders and then by the Ottomans in 1556 to be followed by the Russians in 1774. After the 1821 war of independence Andros became part of Modern Greece.
Batsi (Μπατσί) is located just 2 3/4 nM south-east of Gavrio and provides good shelter, although it can be gusty from the meltemi winds,it is exposed to the south. You can either anchor off-shore or go stern-to at the small quay. The bottom is sand and provides good holding.
This is a pleasant and quiet anchorage if you are off-shore.

Amicalement,
Emilius

Hello Eleni
Again and by chance your favourite trekearthers were at your main page well visible. Suddenly could see an old friend of mine called Maria Varipati. Ai!...Ai!...
On the comments on the photo of taken in Madeira, Curral das Freiras, was a isolate village in the dale. To go down there the accesses or way path tracks were bad. The it was made a inclined tunnel of about 3 km. I agree the place is so quiet. People are a little shy but approached us to have communicate a little. This photo of Andros is a good reference for me. I like islands and explore them. The village is so beautiful having lots of white houses in the same right area. Perhaps because the view! Half hidden is the beach in circular form. Has the island more beaches? Warm regards. Tomi

Hi Eleni,
Excellent view to the town with white houses. Perfect deep dof. The view to the small town is nicely framed by the trees and railing. Well done indeed.

Hi Eleni
Great shot, well framed with the tree in the fg although I feel it's a bit overpowering and too 'busy' but draws the eye into the perspective nevertheless. This is creative way of showing a scenic coastal town in the backdrop as main focal of interest, which certainly makes you sit up and pay more than the usual attention; the contrast of white against the setting, the mist add to the impact and a fine exposure of your work process leads to an excellent finished result. A lovely well worked shot, Congrats
Kind regards

Hi dear Eleni
Sorry for my late reaction to you, as so busy there.
Another wonderful image as your taste of "peeping" style. So fantastic framework and very clear and sharp white houses in the center.
Thanks a lot and have a good weekend!

Kalimera Eleni,
This is well premeditated shot, placing the bay and small town just under the branch and parallel with the blue-iron railings.
The view is great, white houses in fine clarity, and in contrast to the sea and mountains.
Have a great weekend,
Ike

Ciao Eleni
Ciao e buon fine settimana
Romano

Hi Eleni,
There is a very pleasant depth in the picture and there is also a very good harmony in the composition of foreground versus background. The branch of the tree and the blue fence are nicely parallel to the landscape behind. You had chosen a very good position for taking this picture!
Kind regards
Gunnar
