Another fine port scene. I like the small artwork from the boats. Good catch!

I'm attracted by the slightly unusual quality of this image: we're so used to seeing Greek fishing boats moored up in harbours, in vibrant blue/green waters, with pretty white cubist buildings beyond. Instead you've offered a cloudy sky reflected in the clear water with a hint of weed growing on the bottom, and what looks like a "real" village waterfront in the background. Well done for avoiding the postcard cliché!

Although taken almost five years ago, this is an amazingly beautiful photograph. I think your use of a super-wide lens has greatly added to the impact of this delightful shot - I see from your exif data that this was taken at a focal length of just 10mm on your "old" cropped frame camera and I suspect that you don't have a lens proportionally just quite so wide for your "new" full-frame one - that would need to be about 16mm.
Anyway, that lens has given you a wonderfully strong perspective in this shot in which the lines of the ropes and their reflections on the still water lead the eye beautifully to the boats themselves and onward to the distant harbour (which probably wasn't actually all that far away).
I like the foreground which makes the very most of the reflection of the sky in the glass-like water. The colours and lighting throughout are delightful, your exposure perfect and the depth of field and sharpness are exquisite.

How could you have sat on this shot for so long! It is a beautifully eye-catching shot made special, I feel, from your low viewpoint, which uses the mooring ropes to advantage and gives an unusual, light-reflecting view of the sea bed.
Three is a great number for composition and we have three, colourful boats as focal images. You have given us just enough b/g detail to set the context without taking anything away from the focal boats.
Have a great day,

A very colourful picture. Lovely boats and reflections.

wow, it is just fabulous Brian. You composed this scene superbly with those boats and their reflections in water. Excellent clarity, good colours and fine depth. Superb shot. Tfs.

I like the framing very much with the boats positioned right at the top of the frame; very innovative and very successful. Pleasantly lit and with very good colours and clarity.

la foto è tutta incentrata sui particolari riflessi che le acque del porticciolo offrono.
Sono riflessi particolarmente colorati forse per la presenza di residui oleosi, ma la loro presenza regala un particolare fascino che accresce il valore della composizione.
Ciao e buona serata

I like the way that you have used the ropes from one diagonal corner to lead into the frame whilst the boats are nicely arranged across the other, that works well for me and of course the clarity and colours are really well handled.
All the best,

I really have to stop seeing faces in everything, but I have to say, these little boats look so happy! I can easily see them as characters in a kids TV show. And who can blame them being happy bobbing about on a sea of liquid silver like this. Im amazed how clear the water is too, looking through we can see the rocks at the bottom. You sure don't get that in Irish water, way too much seaweed and Leprechaun scrapings. Really appealing and inviting scene.
Thanks as always

Li love the reflected clouds in the still, transparent water, and the superb sharpness. The ropes and their shadows act as fantastic lead in lines towards the boats at the back. Excellent colour and saturation. The yellow, red and blue colours contrast nicely. Have a great weekend!

The reflections are very lovely. The wide-angle lens has given a super perspective and I like the way that ropes tether the picture in the corner. Great colours and clarity - gorgeous!
Kind Regards, Ann

I thoroughly enjoyed spending time at your gallery. I picked this image to comment on because there is such richness to it, despite being an overall calm and relaxing scene. I particularly like your POV, which enabled to use the diagonal created by the boats, the lines, as well as their reflections. Not only do we get a great DOF looking at the horizon, but also looking close. A skilfully chosen title helps to guide us to yet another element in this picture. Bravo - it was a treat!
