Photographer's Note

Wandering through the alleys of Chora, Patmos. The little boy is checking his captures while his family (all of whom are holding cameras, too) are waiting and calling him from the alley ahead.
A glimpse of patmian traditional architecture. High walls protect the yards of the three-centuries-old houses. Doorways say a lot about the houses and the people who live there, they are a statement to the world outside.

View a wonderful boy and hunt this beautiful moment. Photography means taking beauty to be seen by eye. Camera is a photographer's eyes. Resolution is very convenient.

Hello Ourania,

You've presented us a slice of heaven with a lovely whitewashed house, typically Aegean style, in a narrow alley. Being in a dreamy picturesque place, the boy must have taken so many captures and is curious to check the results in a shaded area. Here, I very much liked the way you handled the difficult lighting situation, the result is very impressive with tack sharp details and very appealing soft pastel colors. I also liked the choice of vertical framing here; lit and shaded areas perfectly balanced just drawing a diagonal line. The oleander flower is the essential part of any Aegean scenery in summertime and perfectly finds its place in this composition too. Another great work my friend, thanks and good night.

Υπέροχη η ματιά σου σε αυτή την λήψη.Όμορφο θέμα το παραδοσιακό,άσπρο πέτρινο σπίτι που είναι και σήμα κατατεθέν για τα υπέροχα νησία μας.Υπέροχο παιχνίδι με τις σκιές και εξαίρετη απεικόνιση του παιδιού.Απόλυτα καλοκαιρινό,μιας και έχουμε ήδη ξεκινήσει οι πρώτες ζέστες.

Ουρανία γεια σου,
χαρακτηριστική σκηνή σχεδόν απ' όλα τα Ελληνικά νησιά με τους επισκέπτες να θαυμάζουν τα στενοσόκακα αυτά και μετά να τραβάνε τις απαραίτητες αναμνηστικές φωτογραφίες.
Όμορφο στιγμιότυπο με τα ζεστά χρώματα να κάνουν την 'γωνιά' αυτή της Χώρας πιό ελκυστική.Η χαρακτηριστική βοκαμβίλια στολίζει υπέροχα τη σκηνή.

Πολύ όμορφη η Πάτμος με τα σοκάκια της Χώρας, θυμάμαι που περιπλανιόμουν και εγώ εκεί το 1985 μαζί με τη φωτογραφική μου μηχανή όπως και ο μικρός της φωτογραφίας σου.

Hello Ourania,

One day this boy may be a world-famous photographer! He certainly seems to be taking his hobby very seriously and is concentrating hard on the results on his camera.

This is a beautiful "summery" shot with lovely fresh and bright colours and wonderful lighting. The architecture is lovely but the addition of the boy adds human interest as well as conveying a perfect sense of scale. The whole scene looks just so clean and the building and pavements so well kept.

Perfect exposure, lovely colours and excellent sharpness.

Lovely how you playing with light and shadows.
It's always lovely with these lady, this gives a extra touch to the picture.

Hi Ourania,

Good sharpness and framing with excellent saturation. There is a slight color cast of blue / red / magenta, easy to correct in photoshop, by adding yellow, cyan, & green. The purple bougainvillea flowers at top add a nice splash of color & the photographer is well positioned in the frame. Tfs!

I tend to think this tourist is from Japan, also you describe a well known attitude of people from there when they travel, taking photos in turns...
Fine how you managed good moment, looks as something very interesting happening in the alley, and also, light and contrast collected superbly.
