Photographer's Note
A traditional cottage on Patmos. Two- storey cottages were rare but this is a good sample of the traditional architecture in the Dodecanese, a style that prevailed for centuries until the middle of the 20th century. The buildings have strict straight lines and look like cubes. The only curving line is that of the stone oven. The cottages are made of stones connected with mortar. The walls are very thick, about, or even more than, 50cm. Window shutters are on the inside.

Hello Ourania,
Thanks for keeping up introducing the many aspects of this lovely town. Form of the cottage in here looks so familiar to me as we have very similar cottages in our country too. I know these are very effective arhitectures with very thick walls keeping the inside cool on summer and warm on winter days. About the photo, I like the composition and placement of the cottage in a perfect place to show its surroundings and nice summer lights with lovely shadows. Thanks for sharing. Wish you a good WE.
