Photographer’s Note

Image of Megisti, the smallest island of Dodekanisos, just 2 km from Turkish coast.
It’s the eastern island of Greece.
The island is know in Italy as Castellorizzo (means "Red Castle" in a old form of Southern Italian), and the movie "Mediterraneo" was completely recorded there. The Movie won the Oscar Award as Best Foreigner Movie in the 1992.
In Turkey Megisti is know as Meis, that means "Tear"
The image was took from the souther point of the harbour gate…that also in August it’s not very crowded!

Hi Paolo,
This is a pleasing view and a very informational note. I like the white houses around sparkling water. Just the sharpness could be better a little, but I know it is difficult in scanned picture.

isolation is a good name for this pic. Its amazing how empty the city is! no one except these 2 women can even be seen. ANYWHERE! Its like a ghost town.

Hi Paolo - a lovely mediterranean shot, I wish I was there now even if its hot. Yes the very right part after the tall black pole could be cropped off.

Un psoto meraviglioso e una gran bella inquadratura. Non mi ricordavo che Mediterraneo, splendido film, fosse stato girato lì. Comunque una buona meta per un prossimo viaggio!

The only picture of Castellorizo which is a marvellous (hot but magic) place ! You are speaking of a movie "Castellorizo": is it an Italian movie ? Do you have any more info regarding it ?
