Photographer's Note

View from Mt Patella to the south-east. We can see a large part of Lakki bay and the Marina of the same name. Well organized and popular, this marina is one of the best in the Aegean.

The area from the foreground to the curve of the bay hosted a lot of structures and ammunition storerooms for the defense of the island, constructed during the Italian possession of the Dodecanese. A few ruins can be seen on the coast in the middle ground but there are also several tunnels.

One of them has been converted into a very interesting War Museum, dedicated to the Battle of Leros. (Several photos of the Tunnel Museum can be seen on http://www.atlasvisual.com/leros-war-museum/photos)

This area also offers very pleasant walking routes.

Thank you for visiting, a great weekend to all
