Photographer's Note

View to the south from Mt Patella, on the way to the top where ruins of Italian military structures and barracks lie. In the immediate foreground a glimpse of the road leading to the top, a steep uphill covered with broken stones and too difficult even for a 4 wheel drive to climb, so we proceeded on foot.

Ahead, we see the two long, curvy capes that embrace Lakki bay, making it one of the largest and safest harbours in the Mediterranean. On the horizon lie the mountains of Kalymnos, famous for the rock climbing possibilities they offer. (Kalymnos has been defined in The Guardian as a "climbing mecca". - http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2012/apr/22/rock-climbing-greece-kalymnos)
