Photographer's Note

A house that was built many decades ago when the whole coastal town of Lakki was designed and constructed from scratch by the Italian architects who had undertaken the task to create a model town for their officers and services. The Italian regime in the Dodecanese started in 1912 and a few years later, the immense swamp that was Lakki then was solidified and built according to the architectural principles of Italian Rationalism.
This is one of the houses built for the officers' families. The first floor looks abandoned and the ground floor inhabited. The house next door is renovated and looks cozy and new. They stand on the right side of the road leading from Lakki to the east, to Ayia Marina.
