Photographer's Note

We have had heavy rains on Leros for three days now. I saw this huge rainbow on my way home. It went over the harbour of Ayia Marina and over the hill of the castle but I didn't make it on time to a better vantage point. It was still drizzling, minutes before it got dark.

hi ourania,
the faming here is superb with the sea in the bottom third and the land coming down to meet the horizon. the colour tones in the sky and sea are wonderful and well balanced. the little hint of the rainbow is wonderful and an added bonus to the image.

Something imaginative to cheer up in a rather grey and gloomy weather before the day ends, nevertheless you are blessed by a wonderful creation of mother nature although the rainbows colors look pretty weak but indeed look quite significant and this surely would brighten up anyone's day, me too. It's dynamic and you were certainly in the right place at the right time. The power and impact is in the fact that the rainbows dominate the sheer scale it offers. A rare capture of nature beauty. Congrats to your keen eyes, TFS.

For sure , this was the decisive moment to capture the scene . The rainbow is an important feature , but I like also the contrast between the reddish and blueish tonalities .

This rainbow is certainly huge, in fact it seems remarkably high, but it's also quite discreet and I had to look for it for approximately half a second before seeing it. That doesn't make the view less attractive, in fact this discretion gives the composition a clearly sophisticated appearance. Beauty doesn't need to be underscored. Of course the warm light shining on the buildings just before sunset contributes greatly to the beauty.

Your photo just goes to show that inclement weather is sometimes a wonderful thing for the photographer. Those menacing grey skies are particularly attractive and contrast well with your beautiful and almost full rainbow. The winner of the show for me, however, is the golden light falling on the little port and the water. It is simply magical.

Great shot, I hope it did not pour down on you.

Ciao Ourania, una foto di una delicatezza incredibile, la luce è davvero particolare e la scena è inquadrata magistralmente, anche l'arcobaleno sembra essersi messo in posa per te... e nel punto giusto, la terra ferma e il villaggio hanno in questa compo il giusto spazio e c'è anche qualche gradevole riflesso...

C'est ce qui s'appelle être au bon endroit au bon moment. L'arc en ciel semble faire contre poids à la côte qui s'allonge dans la mer.

Θα το ξαναπώ είσαι τόσο τυχερή που μπορείς να απολαμβάνεις τέτοια φαινόμενα όπως το ουράνιο τόξο και να απολαμβάνεις τέτοια θέα. Εδώ στην πόλη η ρυθμοί είναι εξαντλητικοί και χάνουμε ουσιώδες πράγματα. Μια εικόνα χίλιες λέξεις.

μελαγχολική αλλά ήσυχη και ρομαντική η φωτογραφία σου με το ουράνιο τόξο να είναι το σημείο έπληξη.Πολύ καλή η τοποθέτηση του ακρωτηρίου στο σκηνικό με το χλωμό φως να προσπαθεί να φωτίσει τα τελευταία σπίτια του λιμανιού.

You're capturing well this landscape by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see calm sea, the peninsula with gentle ridgeline, and the rainbow which started sky and the sea thinly with the circle curve. And, the condition of sky shows well that it was still drizzling.

a nice composition. Minimum subject with maximum effect... In my thought there is some dreamy atmosphere in this frame. Balanced light and nice soft colours. A nice one. Tfs.
