a September afternoon, a photo from Dodekanisos, South Aegean

Photographer's Note

A September afternoon at the beginning of the beach of Alinda. The beach is one of the longest and most popular on Leros. It makes a long curve (not included, on the left of the frame) and goes on out of the right side of the frame. Behind my point of view is the War Cemetery where soldiers of the British forces who fell during the Battle of Leros rest.
A little off centre, to the left, is the Bellenis Tower, an impressive mansion built more than a century ago by a wealthy intellectual, Parissis Bellenis, from the Lerian community of Cairo. Now the "Tower" is a historic and folk art museum. and sometimes performances are held in its front yard.

Hello Ourania,
You show us again that almost any ordinary view can become a fine photo is composed well. The children and their bikes are well placed, and although one girl is looking away from the beach, the others are all showing an interest in what is going on below them, which also creates an interest among those looking at the picture. The colours are splendid and the view across the bay is also very attractive, not least thanks to the warm colour of the light falling on the hillside.

This is a beautiful restful summer scene, quite in contrast, I presume, to the war graves behind you when you took it. Lovely to see this little group of children having fun against a beautiful backdrop of the distant coastline and hills.

An excellent composition with lovely lighting and perfect exposure. Fine vibrant colours too and excellent sharpness and details.

Οι τελευταίες βόλτες των παιδιών ειναι πραγματικότητα.Σιγά σιγά ξεκινάνε τα "διαβάσματα" και οι περιπλανήσεις μειώνονται.Όσον αφορά την φωτοφραφία είναι πολύ όμορφη με εξαιρετικό θέμα και λεπτομέρειες.Πολύ καλή γωνία λήψης επίσης.

A lovely scene representative of what it is to be a child of the Mediterranean- those long summers, the friendships forged in the sea and under the bright sun.The freedom to be a child of nature. Reminds me of a French song I often listen to, where love and war walk hand in hand in paradise:-

An enjoyable social commentery shot. Children are good subject to capture as shown here as the happy mood shines through enjoying the moment full of interest and enthusiasm. This is wonderful, kids looking in, and kids looking out but t's intriguing to wonder what seems to be attracting the children's attention. They are frequently able to act and smile spontenously at the most unimanigable situations. Some exquisite work with lovely tonal range, nice framing and the backdrop. An intriguing cheery scene indeed, God loves those adorable innocent children! Well done.

happy faces, they look content while enjoy last days of summer.
The view backdrop's, with barren hill and white houses is a perfect & typical to the whole lovely photo.

Una scena commovente. I ragazzini giocano innocentemente, senza pensiero degli orrori della Guerra Mondiale, anche se possiamo vedere le sue vestigia nel sfondo nella forma del cimitero. La luce, il dinamismo e l'atmosfera spensierato sono catturati benissimi. La foto é bella, ed i sentimenti dietro la foto, sono anche piú belli.
