Gerolimenas
During the 18th century this little harbour served as a pirates den. At later times was the harbour from where Common Quails where exported to France. Nowadays, is a picturesque fishermen's village and a destination for travellers with attitude.
Built by the sea with stone houses it provides a unique view of the vastness in front of the southern sea that extends beyond the cape Tainaro.
Located on the east side of Kavos Gkrosso.
Previously it was the most important commercial port of Respiratory Mani. Today presents tourism growth, the result of the tourism infrastructure.
Gerolimenas probably is the site of the ancient Ippolas and is 96 km from Sparta.
Owes its name to the fact that in ancient times was considered «Sacred Harbor». Open ends of the bay at Cape Kavos Gkrosso.
A little further south is the Cape Tainaro or Kavos Matapas with large cargo. The steep western edge of the Cave of Hades, where worshiped Poseidon and just below Porto Sternes is the temple of Poseidon Tainaro, the present chapel of Asomatos made from ancient materials.
