Photographer’s Note

n 1499 the first fortification in Rion was made by Bayazid II, smaler in area with a double cirquit and moat.In 1532 it was taken by the Spaniards and Andrea Doria and retaken by the Turks.In 1603 the Knights of Malta wrought significant destruction.In 1687 it was taken by Morozini.Drastic repairs were made and it received the form it has today.New towers-bastions, strengthened ramparts.The fortress was siezed by the Turks in 1715 and in 1828 after a siege the Turks surender it to general Maison.It was repaired and handed over to Greeks.
For sometime it was used as a prison.

That bridge is awesome and your picture is perfect!
Sharpness is excellent, exposure is totally correct, colors are naturally wonderful, the pov was the best choice to compose this image so magnificently, placing together the bridge, the fortification, the mountains in the background and this superb sky!

Hi Nikos,

I've always seen posts of the bridge alone, you had an excellent idea to include the surrounding. Colors of nature and architecture are amazing, excellent POV and composition.

What an outstanding composition ! May be that the colors are a little too saturated , but the effect is great , with a fantastic sharpness , and a superb sky .

Καταπληκτική απόδοση σε φως, χρώμα, προοπτική και σύνθεση.
Ο συνδυασμός του νέου με το παλιό λειτουργεί θαυμάσια, Νίκο!
Άραγε, αν έλειπε η γέφυρα θα έχανε ή θα κέρδιζε ως σύνθεση;
Επειδή ρέπω προς το παραδοσιακό και το παλιό, εννοείται πως θα ήθελα το φρούριο να μονοπωλεί το έργο, η γνώμη των άλλων με ενδιαφέρει, ωστόσο!
Οι ευκολίες της σύγχρονης εποχής επιβάλλουν την διαγραφή τέτοιων σκέψεων από το νου μας.
