Photographer’s Note
Marina harbor, the extension of a new well developed part of Kalamata located at the south west side of the city near by the main harbor, not more than 5 min driving from the center of the city.
You will find cafes, Greek traditional restaurants, Italian food, near by the harbor and in the area.
Marina is a small paradise in the city.
You may find me there, as I frequently visit the place, after work, for relaxation or weekends, this picture is describing why.
A few notes for the shot:
-------------------------
Easy settings. Aperture Priority (AP) used, f/8 for a sharp result, and both shutter speed and ISO locked at 200. (EV/0 or EV-1/3)
Some of you may wonder, why didn’t I use ISO 100 and 1/100 shutter speed.
The answer is really simple: Even low wind doesn’t allow 1/100, so I needed a faster speed in order to freeze the boats and the waves in this one. The predictable movement of the boats, rear and above, plus the water confirmed that my calculations were promising. The noiseless ISO 200 didn’t concern me at all. I just wanted a perfect shot.
A polarizer filter couldn’t be missing in this shot, as most of the time I carry it on my lens during day time, since I love high contrast combined with sweet colors.
Post Processing Info:
---------------------
- Raw mode @ Some Contrast, Saturation and Sharpen were increased only, then exported to TIFF and JPEG for my needs
The clarity that day was perfect
No effects were applied. You can say this photo is natural
Workshop NEW!!!
---------------
Yes I decide to create some workshops for myself, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’ll stop workshoping with your photos.
Here is an Atmospheric Version, just made.
I hope you both like them

Hello Stelios
This is an extremely well composed shot - you have used the boats at either side to good effect to frame this well. The light is good, the colours are nice and rich and the details are well sharp. An excellent photo.
Best wishes

Stelios
this is surely one of your finest photos. first of all it is very sharp.also , appears that the weather was so suitable for photography, the view is very clear. the composition that exists of the marina, mountains, and sky full of nicely listed clouds one by one, makes this scenery perfect .

Wow, the contrasts and sharpness of this shot are just perfect. I don't know how you managed to capture such perfect detail throughout the image from the boats in the foreground, through to the mountains and clouds in the background. Great picture!

a wonderful shot, stelios! simply great! and the way you explain your actions in the note, in my opinion, is just perfect... very "logical" as you, greeks, like to say (noticed that in Athens earlier this year). anyway, technical details apart, your approach has worked wonders. the water is "frozen in action" with sparkling reflections. composition is pleasing with the waterway leading viewers eyes deep into the scene. wonderful colors and great perspective. my sincere compliments. TFS.
