Photographer's Note
In the heart of Sagias, the mountain that runs all the way down the peninsula of Mani, until it reaches the "end of the world", the "gate of Hades", Cape Tainaron ("Akrotainaro"), you can find a small group of 3 villages, Moundanistika, Leontakis (the one in the photo) and Pepo. Surrounded by the arid mountains of Mani, are among the most beautiful of the region, but almost completely abandoned. Located between the two sides of Mani, the "Aposkieri" ("Shadowed"=West) and "Prosiliaki" ("towards the sun"= "East"), they look like the don't belong nowhere. Do they belong to oblivion? I hope not!

Kalispera Hercules.

Bon weekend

Hi Hercules!
Very interesting and attractive picture!
High pov, composition, sharpness, exposure, sepia and black&white borders are all excellent!
As I have seen, Greece has many places where man can be truly solitary!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

Bonjour Hercule
le noir et blanc se prête bien à ces villages abandonnés et oubliés, ici avec ces nuages.
Néanmoins avec la version couleur, l'endroit est très sauvage mais superbe
un bon cadrage de l'ensemble
bon dimanche

Hello Hercules,
it´s really a very urban landscape and for sure the inhabitants there have a strong live, so most of them have deserted to the bigger villages in the surroundings.. nevertheless these villages maybe attractive also in our century, think that tourism maybe a great chance fore them..
have a nice weekend, greetings Bernd

Hello Hercules,
a nostalgic tone, worrying, behind the low clouds, excellent selection of black and white for a forgotten village (this will not be the case now with your publication TE) and ideal to be forgotten for a while! The color version is very beautiful, a beautiful place,
good Sunday

Hi Hercules
If it wasn't for the powerlines this could pass for a late 19th century shot. The PP was well done to create the old world look. The village is perfectly placed in the scene and is nicely balanced by the clouds nestled in the folds of the mountains.

Hola Hercules.
Impresionante lugar en una explendida imagen, el B&W da mucho mas caracter a la imagen y con su agreste paraje, la vida en estos lugares debia ser muy dura, de ahi su abandono. Composicion fantastica con esas nubes entrando entre las montañas. Magnifico trabajo.
Buen fin de semana. Saludos.
Luis.

hello Hercules,
I thought that I had critiqued this one but find I have not. I must have admired it, meaning to come back to it.I can't help but think that Greece is meant to be shown in clour but this an exception. The b & W help give the mountains and village a sense of scale and creates an atmosphere of awe at the granduer of the natural world. The diagonal lines created by the slopes of the mounatin and the placement of the village on the thirds line make a good composition.
