Photographer's Note

Elafónissos (Greek: Ελαφόνησος) is a small Greek island between the Peloponnese and Kythira. It lies off the coast of Cape Malea and Vatika.
Many people visit the island for its light coloured, sandy beaches. Among the most well known of its beaches are Sarakiniko, Fragos (Simos) and Panayias Nissia, all filled with blue-green waters.

Elafónissos is by far the largest inhabited island in the Peloponnese archipelago, and the only one that is a separate municipality. There are also some archaeological discoveries to explore on the island and in the surrounding waters. The main church of the community is Ayios Spyridon (Greek: Άγιος Σπυρίδων), which is built on a tiny separate piece of land which is connected by a bridge over shallow waters to the rest of the island. The community's land area also includes 3 km² of the mainland consisting mainly of the famous Punta Beach.
In antiquity, Elafónissos did not constitute an island but a peninsula with the name "Onou Gnathos" (Greek: Όνου Γνάθος) (Donkey's Jawbone) according to Pausanias. Just off the coast of Elafónissos lies the archeological site of Pavlopetri, a sunken city dating back to the early 3rd millennium BC and thought to have been claimed by the sea around 1000 BC.

This is my umbrella showing in the picture and my little beach chair, as I was enjoying another beautiful day in paradise!!!!

vedo che anche te cominci ad avere nostalgia dell'estate.
Questa isola non la conoscevo ma a giudicare dalla tua foto è un posto meraviglioso che varrebbe la pena di frequantare. Mare splendido,sabbia fine e direi anche silenzio e nessun affollamento. Una bella foto, ben composta che ci aiuta a lasciare dietro le spalle il freddo inverno.

I see you were well equiped for the beach, Eleni.
All you need is to have a watermelon, greeck chees and maybe some grapes and your time on the lovely beach is complete...
Amazing fine sand, in baige tone, contrast the tourquise water's - you made me yield for summer.
Fine taken shot of 2006 summer. I went right away to check Google map for the location of the island:36.485, 22.96.

A very pleasant picture with these three fields of colours, light blue sky, blue-green sea and beige sand. The umbrella and the chair are perfectly placed in the picture and provide a nice composition. A very pleasant picture!

Τι έχει να ζηλέψει η Ελλάδα όταν βλέπουμε τέτοιες εικόνες απο τα εξωτικά νησιά. Τίποτα. Η Έλαφονησσός είναι από τα πιο όμορφα μέρη της Ελλάδος. Τα νερά είναι καταγάλανα και ο συνδιασμός με την ομπρέλα κάνει το τέλειο τοπίο για χαλάρωση.

Ah, another of the islands in Greece that I have been to. It was a long time ago, when we visited Elafonisos with my parents. I still remember that we had a good meal of grilled fish in one of the harbor restaurants.
This is such a calm beach scene, one wants to lie on that beach chair and while away the day.

όμορφη φαίνεται η παραλία στην Ελαφόνησσο,με την μοναδική ομπρέλα και το καρεκλάκι να είναι πραγατικά μια πρόκληση για τον επισκέπτη όπως και τον θεατή.
Μου αρέσουν τα χρώματα όπως και ο φωτισμός της φωτογραφίας.
