Photographer's Note

Corinth Canal dug in the years 1881-1893. It crosses the isthmus of Corinth, which combines a basic member of the Balkan peninsula of Peloponnese. Channel length of 6.3 km, a width of 24.6 m and a depth of 7 m of water connects the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) from the Gulf of Corinth. Height of hanging rocks above the water exceeds 70 feet. Attempts to reach ancient canal digging. Before the canal was made, Isthmus of Corinth was used to transport goods by road and ship (!) between points lying on the both sides.
