Photographer's Note

This ancient house is a mansion of the 18th century, now deserted to remind only the historical and very important era of this area.
There was an attempt to restore it but they have only restored the façade as the interior is of a great archaeological value and no restoration can be done without a permission of the appropriate department.
From medieval times up to the Greek Revolution,Prastos was the old capital of Tsakonia, reaching a peak in the 18-19th centuries, leaving behind a great historical and cultural heritage.
Today, this magnificent village is almost deserted and its ruins are witnesses to its old days of glory.
My mother used to tell me stories about the glory days lived in this house with the most traditional and cultural ways. She used to play in this house in her childhood with other neighbor kids and her descriptions of the ancient amphoras and golden coins found in the basement of this mansion were impressive.
Every time I go back to Greece, I visit Prastos and this house for the sake of the good memories!
