Photographer's Note

In the wider region of Tsakoniá lies the picturesque village of Ayios Andreas, built on the edge of the canyon of Zarmpánitsa and the estuary of Vrassiátis river.
In the street below of Vrassiátis river is located the beach and little port of Ayios Andreas and there also survives an arched bridge along with the Monastery of Annunciation .
The two buildings of the monastery, the church and the tower, appeared to be Venetian, probably renovated in the 18th century. The monastery is the historical monastery of Orthokostá.
On the beach of Ayios Andreas there are remaining ruins and saved part of the Cyclopean walls of ancient Anthini and tower sections of the 4th and 5th centuries. B.C.
Remains of the late Roman and Byzantine period of Anthini are found in a short distance from the ancient site near the sea.
Ayios Andreas celebrates festivities of its Saints Konstantinos and Eleni every year on May 21st and then is when I celebrate my name day as well.
The church of Saints Konstantinos and Eleni is showing on the left hand side of this picture.
My mother lived in this village when she was a child and she used to come down from Prastós with her parents to spend the wintertime, where the climate is milder.
Her family home is still here in this village and looks the same way that it used to be then, a very traditional country home.
Olive trees are spread everywhere and make this a very natural setting.
The mount on the back is called Kakokefála (bad head) and this is because in the old times people used to "read" the weather just by looking at this mount and its reactions.
This is one more picture from beautiful Arkadia with a very sentimental attraction to me.
