Citation of the town of here Nafplio Bourtzi is built on the small island of St. Theodore.
His first name was Castello dello Soglio, given by the Venetians and was built by the Italian engineer Gabello, in 1473.
The entrance of the bay close to the mobile chain and "Porto Gardena", a port in the chain as it was called, was a sure anchorage. Years later, Bourtzi inhabited by Palamidi executioner.
Bourtzi in tourkikoaravika means island-fortress, while the island was formerly the name of St. Theodore. It lies about 300 meters from the breakwater. It was the center of defense of the Greek invasion of Ibrahim. Commandant of the island was appointed Dimitris Σαχτούρης on 11 June 1825.
In the 1930s and became a changed use of the Tourist Center.
In the decade 1960-1970 worked as a luxury hotel.
Today visitors can enjoy many music and cultural events during the summer, why not visit Bourtzi winter. But when evening, Bourtzi enlightened, dominates the Argolic Bay, a chain link connecting the Greek history of yesterday with today, through memories, good, bad, but always strong and true.
