Photographer’s Note
The Syntagmatos Square of Nafplio town, is not just a meeting point, or a scenery for "ghost parade" ( *SEE HERE* ), but also a football field. And the arches of the old Venetian Arsenal (which now houses the very important Archaeological Museum), can become the goalposts.
"The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty Kick" (also known as "The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick"- original title in German "Die Angst des Tormanns beim Elfmeter")was one of the first films (1972) of the great German director, Wim Wenders . It was based on a novel under the same title by Peter Handke .
*WORKSHOP 1* - Photo taken fractions of a second later. If you want to know what the result was, I have to tell you that unfortunately it was a goal (I am always at the goalkeeper's side)
***WORKSHOP 2*** - The Original version and Workshop 1 "blended" together

Hi Hercules, very nice scene of street futbol or penalty kick. I play futbol also and I love taking penalty shots with no mercy to the keeper! But penalty shooters I think have more fear than keepers, the pressure of missing the shot is as big as the size of the field!!! :> Thanks for sharing...Alex

Hi Hercules,
a good depth (11 m ?), nearly 3D..., and I like the imaginary diagonal of the shot. Can an imaginary line be part of the image formation ? You show it !
Compliments, Chris
PS: I also was attracted by the title, because Peter Handke was born here in Carinthia in my neighborhood.

Hello Hercules,
Make use of what you have! Creative use of the doorway as a goal!
This is a nice action capture, showing a couple of guys doing the same as millions of boys all over the world...
A well framed scene, tad of motion blur in his leg shows what is happening!
Greetings,

Hello Hercules,
An especially appealing shot for an old soccer/football player. The little goalie does look fearful, but unlike you, I am on the side of the penalty kicker. I played all through university, and we had an entirely international team of European and South American players. The captain of the Flamengo team from Brazil, the goalie and center-forward of the Ecuador National Team all played on the team of stars. But a team of international stars is not the best way to form a team. They don't play like the instruments of a fine orchestra, they play like individual stars. Nonetheless, I was the designated penalty kicker. The kicker here is not 'powering' the ball into the goal, but using finesse. He has the right lower corner in mind.
Warm regards Hercules.

Hello Hercules,
I don't know how I missed this yesterday. I'm not a football fan but this is delightful. I really feel for the little boy on the receiving end! The colors, composition and title are all splendid.

Ciao Hercules
I like the arch frame which probably makes this shot more interesting than ordinary when you frame it as if the arch is the goal, with the little boy's arms out stretched to protect his 'net'. Very quick click!

HerculesIts' a pretty advanced link from this to Wim Wender (but I like it)
I would not ike to be the keeper as he seems to be a bit short if the the kicker just
lay his body a bit back when he kick the ball.

Geia sou Hirakli,
Fantastic!
I am fascinated by the concentration of this small goal keeper who tries to occupy as much as possible of space in this historic goal! He will become a great goal keeper , I am sure !
I like very much your series and also the recomposed photo.
Bravo, filika
