Photographer’s Note
A short break to my Meteora "series" with a sunset from Nafplio, a picturesque small town of 15.000 inhabitants, about 150 km (1 1/2 hour) from Athens.
Nafplio , is not just a perfect destination for romantic "escapes" from Athens, but also a town with great history and great architectonic importance. In the old part of the town you can see some great examples of Venetian architecture, some islamic monuments from the Ottoman Era and some beautiful Neoclassical buildings. You can also see 3 beautiful castles , Bourtzi, on the little island that you can see in the middle of the Gulf, Akronafplia on the small peninsula that you can see in the centre of the photo and the magnificent Palamidi , from where I took the photo. To reach there I had to climb the 999 stairs that connect the town with the castle. I stood there for a couple of hours to take some sunset and “blue” hour photos.
Nafplio, was the first capital of Greece (before Athens), after the liberation of the country from the Ottoman empire. It is the town, where the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, was murdered.
Very close to Nafplio you can find many, very important archaelogical sites, like Mycenae and Tiryns (World Heritage Sites by UNESCO), the Acropolis and the ancient theatre of Argos (often refered as the most ancient city of the world still existing) and the world famous Ancient Theatre of Epidavros.

What a wonderful picture!
The cloudy sky with that sun ( a real star ) is simply awesome!
The high pov allowed you to have such a magnificent sight and I love seeing this "small peninsula" with cliffs and the partial view of the city, with those red rooftop buildings! The sunlight reflection on the water surface, as well as its texture, are also highlights!
Exellent sharpness, exposure, natural and superb colors!

This is a great sunset shot. Your POV is outstanding giving us a nice overview of the peninsula. The long exposure allow for the capture of nice lighting and crisp details in this low light. The reflection of the sunset of the water is outstanding.

Η αλήθεια είναι ότι απουσίασα για λίγο απο το ΤΕ. Απολάμβανα όμως όλες τις φωτογραφίες και ιδιαίτερα των φίλων μου, πού "ανέβαιναν" στο site.
Μόλις γύρισα από μια μικρή, ημερήσια εκδρομή στο Ναύπλιο και η εξαιρετική φωτογραφία σου συμπλήρωσε την εικόνα που είχα στο μυαλό μου από την πανέμορφη πόλη, κάνοντας την να φαίνεται ακόμα πιο εντυπωσιακή.

I do not know where you had risen to make this photo but the view on the site, on the city, on the sea and on this sun in star is fantastic.
I went to Nauplie, there is very for a long time (1974, I believe and I had forgotten the site where was built the city).

I don't know how you obtained such fantastic colours but anyway It's a great work. The sharpness is excellent and there is a strong 3D effect. This place of course is wonderful especially at sunset but the best merit goes to your skill in both photographing and pp. I wish I had that skill! (:-

He estado un poco ocupado por lo cual no he podido ver todas tus fotos.
Magnifica foto del atardecer sobre Nafplio con preciosos colores en el cielo y un gran reflejo en el mar. Tu alto POV nos permite disfrutar de esta vista panorámica de tan bella ciudad. La composición es muy buena y el subir 999 escalones valió la pena para captar este estupendo paisaje.
