Photographer’s Note

Well, what can i say about this image...It is one of my favourite ones, taken at Litohoro, my second home. From the first time i visited this blessed village, i just fell in love with it, and now (finally!) i have a house there to spend my weekends, especially at winter. Litohoro is a beautiful village situated at the foot of mount Olympus, the home of the Gods, according to the Greek mythology.
Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece (2918m) and you can see it's peak (Mytikas) at the back covered with snow during the whole year. The legent says that this is the peak where Dias (Zeus) had his throne.
The natural beauty of this place is unique and for this reason Litohoro is a tourist's magnet, mostly for people who want to explore Olympus and live the fantastic experience of climbing to the peak of the imposing mountain.
The buldings on the left corner are hotels, packed every year by mountaineers and people who like to combine mountain and sea at their vacations. You see this place actully has a sea too, very cool thing for a village situated at 300 m altitude, just a breath from the heart of the forest!

The view is from the balcony of my house, where i took the shot last spring on a day with excellent weather conditions that allowed me to capture the usually foggy peaks quite clean. I hope you enjoy it!
