Photographer’s Note

This street in the old part of the city of Thessaloniki meanders downwards to the town centre.
The crown jewels of the old city are the old Byzantine city walls, the castles and the watchtowers. But the small streets are beautiful too. They have their own charm: brightly painted houses, little shops, classic pavement, roaming streetdogs (yes, no problem here, they’re mostly friendly). This pic ain’t pin-sharp but I quite like how it captures the atmosphere of this old part of town and how it amplifies the descending orientation by the powerlines and the pointed fence. I didn’t go all the way on the DOF to prevent making the background too cluttered. 28 mm.
PS-E2 tech: saturated, boosted the yellows, sharpened, fillflashed the pavement, darkened the fence.

Very nice - I like the blurry feel of this too. The orientation is nice. Do you think it would lose it's story if you cropped out the top messy wire thing? It seems distracting. This is a neat place with good color and character - I would love to see it in person. :o)

Uw beschrijving bij deze foto is zeer goed Bert, Griekenland is wel uw lievelingsland, deze straat geeft zeer veel kleur, het lijkt mij wel pittoresk. Goed gedaan.

Nice view and nice colors. This reminds me of a street in the town in Italy where we have a house. So narrow, colorful and curves constantly as it descends so you never know what's around the corner. And in that case it is a street that traffic shoots up so you have to be careful. I see the scooter coming around the corner here, too, so these people must have to watch out and listen too. All the wires add a lot to the sky and the lack of sharpness doesn't hurt this photo. I think it also amplifies the colors. Good job.
