The White Tower of Thessaloniki (Greek: Λευκός Πύργος Lefkos Pyrgos), is a monument and museum on the waterfront of the city of Thessaloniki, capital of the region of Macedonia in northern Greece. Originally constructed by the Ottomans to fortify the city's harbour, it became a notorious prison and scene of mass executions during the period of Ottoman rule. It was substantially remodeled and its exterior was whitewashed after Greece gained control of the city in 1912, turning the former "Tower of Blood" into the present-day White Tower. It has been adopted as the symbol of the city, and also as a symbol of Greek sovereignty over Macedonia. more informations

This is a nice shot of this nice tower. The tower is nicely framed by the trees. The deep blue sky provides a nice backdrop for the shot. I wish you had left a little more space at the top so that the flag would not be clipped.

A bright and clear composition with this fine tower surrounded by lovely trees. You really framed it well and the presence of the people below gives the true idea of the size. Good light and colours: a beautiful postcard.

Vasilis, when I first saw this I thought it looked like something in Rome, close inspection shows me that error but it is awesome. Too bad about it's brutal history but great that it has been preserved. Great color and composition.
