Photographer’s Note

The Thessaloniki International Trade Fair
(abbreviated TIF;

in Hellenic: Διεθνής Έκθεση Θεσσαλονίκης,

abbreviated ΔΕΘ; in transliteration/Greeklish: Diethnis Ekthesi Thessalonikis, DETH)
is an annual commercial exhibition event of much importance in Greece and Southeastern Europe taking place in Thessaloniki, Greece and is organised by HELEXPO. The fair was first held in 1926.

It has been customary for the country's Prime Minister to set out his government's policies for each coming year in a speech at the annual Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, and for this reason the event has political significance in addition to its commercial importance.

The 74rd TIF took place between 5 and 13 September 2009.

This year the honoured country is INDIA. That's why the elephant decorates the fair.

bellissimo questo edificio a forma di elefante.
Il suo colore bianco contrasta magnificamente con il blu del cielo.

Tu sai che l'elefante è il simbolo di Catania, vero?

ma il famoso cavallo di Troia, nel quale Ulisse si nascose dentro la pancia, è diventato un elefante? :-)
Veramente strana e curiosa questa scultura che rende omaggio all'India. Hai avuto una ottima idea nel fotografarlo. Bravo!
