Moonrise Over Paralia Photo

Photographer’s Note

Dear Friends,

It was long time ago I was active here. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to run all the Trek-sites together, so I don't have the time for each. But now I'm here, just came home from our vacation from Greece (with more than 2 GB of photos...). We spent most of our time in Paralia, a resting (?) town near Katerini (the full name of the town is 'Paralia Katerinis', because the word "paralia" means "seaside" in English, if I'm not wrong, but everyone - and even maps - knows and mentions it simply as Paralia). It's very popular among Hungarian, Serbian and Romanian people, although I don't really understand why.

For amateur photographers Paralia doesn't offer too much. Simple and absolutely non-characteristic sandy seaside, a town full of apartments to rent and heavily overcrowded with small stores, which are opened to late night (as it's usual everywhere in Greece). The only building worth mentioning there is an orthodox church. So we (with my older son) were only able to practise our hobby at night (except for the usual family shots) - at least we had a good lesson of nocturnal photography, and I also learned a lot how to handle my new camera in manual mode. Fortunately we had the possibility to visit the Meteoras and also Mt. Olympus.

Shot: on the "unique" seaside, around 10 o'clock (GMT +2). Manual exposure. A similar image may be seen on TrekLens, if interested.

Udv ismet itt, eleg bator keppel nyitottal, meresz a sok fekete a sokkoloan izgalmas hold es a tavoli varos 'arany morzefelirata'.

Hi Laszlo,very very beautifull pic,i like a lot the pics taken in the night and this is a wonderfull perfection in time of exposure and colors.I'll be in Greece too from tomorrow,in Creta island,see you the 5 october,have a nice time,Luciano

Hello László,

There is a nice atmosphere in this minimalist composition!
From my younger days I remember the August moon as something special, but I guess the September moon is as good as well with the silky soft nights...

Szia Laci!
Örülök, hogy jól telt a nyaralásotok, ha nem is éreztétek egyformán jól magatokat mindenhol.
Felettébb érdekes képpel indítod a sort. Gondolom a minimalizmus volt ezzel a célod, ami sikerült is. A kép a kerettel együtt elég jó látványt nyújt.
Teljesen azonban nem tudom a élvezni ezt a képet (amit a TL-re raktál fel, sokkal jobban tetszik!). Nekem egy kicsit túl sötét! A nagy világos foltról gondolhatjuk, hogy a hold, a csíkokról pedig gondolhatjuk, hogy a város fényei. Jó, a jegyzeted segít, de akkor is. Amit ajánlottam volna: szűkebb kivágás és hosszabb expozíció, nagyobb isoértékkel.
Művészi, csak jó lenne valamit látni is rajta. Bár lehet, hogy csak ízlés kérdése! ((:

Szia Laci!
Szó se róla, nem terheled agyon a nézőt a sok részlettel. viszont így elegáns a kép a bársonyos fekete alapon megjelenő sejtelmes "aranyhíddal" és a távolban elszórt fényekkel. Én nem vagyok nagy rajongója a képkeretezésnek, de ezt most kifejezetten szerencsés választásnak tartom.
