Edessa (Voden) Photo

Photographer’s Note

Famous for its many waterfalls and greenery, Edessa is virtually unknown to tourists, which is a blessing and a shame. The town is one of the most beautiful in Greece full of little streams, bridges and parks. There are many small waterfalls throughout the town and one big one which is the main attraction. This is the big one.
Now I named it with the both names. They both sound good. :)

The name of this town (my birth place) has been Edessa since 2nd millenium BC, some milleniums before the Slavs come to SE Europe. After its liberation from Turkish occupation in 1912, it is again known as Edessa. For some centuries in the meantime it was named Voden or Vodena.
If you want to publish a photo in TrekEarth, you should mention its official name. I have posted some photos of Kaimaktsalan in the official name of the region, Bitola, not in the name of this old Greek town called Monastiri before 1912.

Hi Tina

The right (and official name) is Edessa and Voden or Vodena or whatever else. You must follow the local name and nothing else. I went to Prague back in 2004. The English name is "Prague" and the Greek name is "Praga (Πράγα)" but the local name in Czech language is "Praha". I prefered the english name for my photos. Anyway, the English name for Edessa is Edessa too. So you must choose the local (Greek) name or the English which is the same. So, please correct the title with the Greek name only.

This is a site dedicated to photography. If you dont like this arrangement please go somewhere else. The name of my town is Edessa.
