Lonely tree, a photo from Kastoria, Macedonia

Photographer's Note

You can see the thick fog that covered the Kastoria town, few kilometers from the Kolokynthou village at the foot of the mountain.
Kastoria (Greek: Καστοριά Kastoriá [kastoriˈa]) is a city in northern Greece in the periphery of West Macedonia. It is the capital of Kastoria peripheral unit. It is situated on a promontory on the western shore of Lake Orestiada, in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains. The town is known for its many Byzantine churches, Ottoman-era domestic architecture, fur clothing industry, and trout.

On thumbnail I was thinking a scene from Japan ! But it's from Kastoria !

A beautiful minimalist landscape picture . At first glance , I didn't see the town , roofs have the same color than the ground in the FG . The superb tree and the moutain are perfectly placed in the composition .

Hello Vasilis.
A beautiful and simple shot, well composed to achieve a fine balance. Of course the great colours contribute to the pleasure of this one, but the main interest must be the fog. We can see the clear sky and foreground features in very sharp detail, but it's possible the people living in those houses are still shrouded in the fog lingering over the village. A minimalist delight, this one.
